Crashing Less? Did something with FF change?
I spontaneously have not had crashes in a week and FF runs much, much better now.
Did you guys change the server package or something like that, or is it just random computer luck? I know the Xfire patch helps (I do not have to turn off Xfire), but I have not gotten any shitty "Hl2.exe crash blah blah" crashes in a long while. A Steam update maybe? Iunno.

I haven't been crashing less, but I didn't crash that much to begin with so it doesn't really bother me.

There were some source engine updates, not sure if those need to be included in the mod itself first(via a patch) to have any effect though.

I've had the exact same luck too! The first week or two weeks I crashed nonstop. Then someone told me to change me -heapsize. So I did. It kind of helped but I still crashed. Then all of a sudden I don't crash hardly at all anymore. I'm talking about only 1 crash for every 4 days or something. It's really noticeable.
I'm happy too. Maybe me and the 5 other people who voted yes just got lucky. God loves us and not you jk I don't wanna jinx it |

I know they fixed some issues with the Steam Community, so maybe it was that?

well it could be..? but I disabled Steam Community in-game long before the crashing stops. Just saying disabling it didn't solve my problem so Valve's new fix could have fixed it? Maybe.

Remember the buggy doors on ff_monkey during the first few days of release? Whatever happened to those? They've been functioning normally for ages now

The buggy doors/eles was b/c some server operators set the tickrate way too high (100+).

I changed my Model Detail setting to High from Low and I haven't crashed since then. Also my buggy blood sprites disappeared. There's a thread about this somewhere.

yeah my model setting is high, no decal bugs too which is a bonus. also i changed my heapsize to half my ram (512000) and disabled steam community (i dont think that helped the crashes but i dont use it so its unnecessary)
so I'm satisfied. |
