cl_spawnweapon_sniper autorifle
cl_spawnweapon_pyro ic

<works for any class/weapon>

Personally, I use
cl_spawnweapon_medic medkit
cl_spawnweapon_scout crowbar

Experiment with the weapon names, usually the weapon's display name on the HUD (when scrolling thru them) will work

Last I checked the cl_spawnweapon_blah didn't work...although that might just be if you bind from console. AND, that doesn't do anything he wants...he's not worried about the spawnweapon, it's the lastinv weapon that he is/was having issues with.

@raynian, that is needlessly complex for something very simple. And doesn't really do what he asked either. Your setting the lastinv to slot5 always...he just wants it to default to more intuitive things.

Seriously, this is all that is needed:

I'm saying that if everyone is doing this already then why is it not done by default. Personally, I don't care HOW to do it. But thanks for putting it for other people

Does anyone see a reason for us to not have these as default? Would it annoy anyone if it were?

I'd love to see these changes be default.

I always use "Last Weapon", I don't like to think about which weapon is bound to which key so as I respawn I go from my primary to secondary then only use last weapon till I need to respawn again. Very quick and works great.

That's the beauty of making your own binds though. You don't have to think about what weapons are bound to each key.

Almost every class is the same. I use either quick switches, or the built in +attack2 for all the classes on the same key (I said almost every class cause there's a few exceptions).

Pretty much every class has a primary and 2ndary weapon, and usually a 3rd weapon/ability.

All my quickswitches use the letter Q. (Meaning all my primary/secondary weapons are bound to Q), and the 3rd weapon, if I want one, is bound to R

So for example:

Medic: Q=SSG/SNG R=Medkit
Soldier: Q=RPG/SSG R=SG
HWG: Q=AC/SSG R=SG
Pyro: Q=IC/FT R=SG
Demo: Q=Blue/Green R=SG
Sniper: Q=SR/AR R=NG
Engy: Q=SSG/RG R=Wrench
Scout Q=SG/NG R=Crowbar
Spy: Q=SSG/NG R=Tranq Mouse2=Knife

Now, that all at first glance may look confusing. But really all I've done there, is bind every primary/secondary to Q, and any 3rd weapon I want to R. Which involves absolutely no thought whatsoever when I choose any class. Cause they're all the same, and I never have to worry about this "last weapon" thing that can get messed up if I chose a different weapon inbetween.

My slot1 is still bound to #1 key so I can pull out the hand weapon of any class as well.

I know the quick switch alignment is easy to do as you're leaving your respawn, since that's how I did it for many years back in tfc, but it's nice not having to do anything upon spawning.
