It's better than Shiro, not anywhere near Midori. It's a beginner's map, no nades, FF and TF2. Hoping maybe to draw in even just one person from the TF2 society would help. More like advertising

Nope, no remakes, never do. I like new. The first link is to a altered Shiro, increased the dimensions so it's not so damn small, but rckteer is it's own.

So this is completed right? I can add it to the FF Community Map Pack 2?

Played this last night and fucking awesome man...I spent probably like 3min literally try to figure out how the hell to open the door (duh big white button on top!). I didn't get a chance to finish it, cause I had to go to practice, but I did no clip though really quick and I can see me spending a long time on the last jump!

Wow, totally forgot all about this thread, didn't see the posts I've slowly started the next one and I got a couple TF2 people helping along so hopefully this next one should be coming out not too long since in addition we're all in the process of getting SoTF going. For anyone interested they can see the next set of jumps coming out. Again, no grenades but since the map will be a bit bigger I'll leave Scout/Medic in since I know some of you just love concing regardless the map Links to the images since their high in res and close to a meg each in size.

I need an easier map
I've played RJmaps before, back in TFC, five years ago. I can do practical rjumps, in regular maps, so I think if you want to make a beginner rj map it needs to be easier than this. |

Not making a jump where you have to jump down at the water as a solly would be a good start. I just went to Pyro to get it, FT Strafe ftw.

Yeah.. i didn't know how to do that one (#5?) as soldier either. We tried various things, jumping down and blasting off the ledges/wall to the side, blasting off the opposing wall, rocketing off the water.. but the latter i suck at, so that might be the key?

For that one, (Like a record?) I tihnk you have to do jump to the glass, and then do a downwards backwards angled jump off the glass. Couldn't do it either.
If I was making a map for total beginners to RJumping, rather than beginners to RJump maps, I would take it in slower steps. For example, even on the first jump, lowering the wall a bit would be good. I've seen people miss that! And on quadrangular, I would first have a jump that takes only two rockets, then one that takes three, and THEN one that takes four. For like a dolphin, I would do the same thing. RJumping out of water is really awkward. You want to press forward when facing down and pressing jump at the same time, and then you start bouncing at the top of the water...it's hard for newbs. For mario style, I would have a jump with one bounce first. Actually, I did mario style without even bouncing back and forth, just wall jumping like you do in quadrangular. For precision 101, I would make the hole wider. etc. Ya gotta give beginners lot's of leeway, and teach them slowly. Look at portal, the first puzzle is the stupidest thing in the world: place a box on a button. But without it, people would never know what to do next time they saw a box. By the way. that tiny tiny little platform in "all together now" is evil!! Anyway, that's how I would approach a beginner map, not saying you should change what you have or anything, but beginners need their hand held for a little while. You gotta show them what to do, then make it REALLY easy for them to do, reinforce it a few times, then give them the full version. This map is GREAT though, because it's like individual elements from a harder map, by themselves, instead of "all together now" Quote:

That's exactly what I'm doing for conc_school! And I totally agree...i'm not a newb to rj's but that is pretty tough shit for me man...although I generally only ever played a rj map with quad (TFC) so that's why I struggle...everything I know is wrong in that regard.

Like a Record is one of the easiest jumps... You only need to strafe into the hole. I usually rjump to get more speed so it's easier to get in, but you only need to strafe and keep trying.
Never finished the map though, always get stuck in All together now I think, the one with the door, the pillar and the small platforms after the door. |
