The main reason is that cords are shit. I'd pay an extra $20 for a headset to get one with a thick cord.

...Or at least one with cords big enough that you could reasonably take it apart and fix it when it does break. I've got loads of headphones with just one ear working.

Yep, that's what happens to me. Or the mic goes on the fritz.

I'm currently experiencing microphone fritz on two headphones, purchased on the same day. They went out at the same time. INTERESTING?

Hell, though, even the last set of expensive headphones I got lost the left ear after a year or so.

I've had cheap hardware and expencive hardware last a long time. Depends on what you get. I bought my friend a headset for $20 and it turned out to be total shit after a few weeks.

I bought a USB mic from Logitech recently for about $30 and it's the most amazing thing I've ever used. It's also the first USB mic I've every used. HOLYSHIT do they beat the analog bull shit!
