I made a Fortress Forever config for the SDK, and the gird in Hammer is all messed up.

'Nuff said, I think.

This usually happens when you configure under the wrong engine. Make sure you configured Fortress Forever for the Half Life 2: Episode One engine listing and not Orange Box or anything. Also try hitting [ or ] (change grid size) just to see if that might help. Last, look on the top menu bar, toward the right. You'll see four grid buttons, one with a large grid, one with a grid saying 3D, one with a +, and one with a -. Try the first two, after trying to scale the grid into view.

Ah, I have it set for the Orange Box engine. How can I get it to work with the Ep1 engine when I don't own the game?

EDIT: Never mind, I got it.

EDITEDIT: I don't got it.

There is no Episode 1 under Source SDK game engine drop down list?
Right click Source SDK, properties, general, set launch options and try the following: -engine ep1 .. See if that sets Engine as ep1?

No, there IS. When I select it and try to run hammer, it just says "ERROR: No game configurations to run with"

Under utilities in Source SDK try the following:
. Reset game configurations

If that doesn't work, then select create a mod and make a fake mod for Half Life 2. This will add it under the Current Game: list under Half Life 2: Episode One (If you don't see it, refresh SDK content) and will allow you to at least enter Hammer, where you can go into options and set up Hammer with game configurations (FF in this case), which will be written under the Current Game: list. You may have to refresh SDK content once you've written the configuration, too.

Also, you have to play a game for it to appear in the game list, I believe. So, if you haven't played Half Life 2 after installing Source SDK, open it and close it and refresh to see if it's in there. I'd try this before the whole create-a-mod desperation technique.

Open and close portal, refresh SDK content, then use Portal (selected as Current Game) to open Hammer. Then, create new FF configuration in hammer, close it, refresh SDK content again or close/reopen SOURCE SDK, then Fortress Forever configuration you created should be under Portal in Current Game: list. :/

Portal isn't running on the Ep1 engine. I have no game configs for the Ep1 engine. I can't make a custom FF config without a Ep1 engine game configs. It crashes every time I try to make a mod under the Ep1 engine.

I'm out of suggestions. :/

Well, try the mod thing. Select EP1 engine as current engine and make a mod for it, then refresh sdk content and use it as a base for FF config.

"It crashes every time I try to make a mod under the Ep1 engine."

What part of that did you not read?

Go into your sourcesdk folder and see if you have a bin\ep1\bin directory. If you don't you're probably screwed. If you do, you could try editing GameConfig.txt by hand.

Didn't see that, but if you want be an ass about it; Good luck figuring out your problem on your own. You're undeserving of my attempts at helping you now.
