Here's a new question to throw into the debate, has anyone ever known an individual or group that has mastered the BH in order to understand it, and then decided it was a bad thing and should not be allowed?

I'd like to draw my own conclusions on the debate. Old men ban BH on thier server so some young whippersnapper doesn't run rings around them. End of conclusion.

Anti-Bunnyhopping servers amuse me. Their argument is that "bunnyhop is an exploit of the game physics engine." This is true. The way bunnyhopping is actually performed is due to a quirk in the Half-Life engine. However, Valve has intentionally left bunnyhopping in the game. When 1.1.0.8 (right about when I started playing) came out, the bunnyhopping became limited as opposed to the infinitely high speeds one could attain before.
Valve HAS the ability to remove bunnyhopping. All you have to do is look at any of the other "realistic shooter" mods like Counter-Strike or Day of Defeat. They could've done it with TFC. They didn't. Bunnyhopping is part of the game and the people who developed TFC sanction it. If people wish to intentionally gimp themselves when they play TFC, that's fine by me. But at least put up a thing on your server's name so those of us who wish to play the game the way it was meant to be played can find another server. Nothing annoys me more (except bots) than loading into a server and then reading the MOTD and finding out there's no bunnyhopping or that they've limited something else about the game (no concing/weapon jumping with the flag for example). |

Playing on the O-T server is a once in a lifetime experience. Really. In a really bad way.

Anyone else find it hillarious that 'gay anal sex with a cat' is implicitly stated to be worse than 'anal sex with a cat'?

We have two servers. One is the AE clan server 8.6.8.213:27015 (TDM HL2) witch is all adult, must be over 18 to join clan and usually has a content warning when you join. Then the TKZ 8.6.3.25:27015 (TDM HL2) server family orientated dif rules bla bla bla.
But no matter witch server I'm on if, someone is being a douche bag I warn them ask them not to do what ever it is 3 or 4 times. Then if they keep it up I will burn, slap, beacon, time bomb, well you get my point every time they break the rule after three or four warnings until they leave or they start running other players out then I kick them. Bottom line is if you pay for the server it's your rules enforce them how you want to but try to be fair and consistent in doing so. We do have forums for each server where people can PMS (piss moan snivel) about admin actions and can even appeal the rare BAN when it happens if they want to. I am sorry to see such controversy over server rules. We have a swear filter plug-in on TKZ server so we only have to worry about peoples names and porn sprays witch are the two most common offenses on that server. Damn time to shut up theres my two bits worth.

3 points to make about the OT clan and it's servers.
1. Swearing and fould language are not as prevalent as everyone would think. Perhaps in sporting events and bars it is expected, but in general public (ie: shopping malls, dealing with clients and customers, business, church, etc.) it is not. I personally do not like to hear foul language. I am a counstruction worker and I hear enough of it at work. I pride myself in not using it. I think the OT clans policy is refreshing and brings in people with good character who enjoy a good, clean, fun game 2. OT servers originally allowed b-hopping if it could be done manually. It was decided to not allow it because it became extremely clear that 99% of the people doing it were using scripts. The Clan felt using scripts to do it was an unfair advantage. It was extremely difficult to administer the "no-script b-hopping" rule, so it was decided for ease of adminning, to just say no b-hopping at all. 3. If OT's rules are so ridiculous and OT is the reason TFC is dying, then how come in a matter of 2 to 3 months (cuz OT has a new server/ip recently) OT has gone from the bottom ranked server (400+) to the 11th ranked TFC server in the world? Yeah, no one wants to play with OT Oh yeah, when OT ran a NEO server it was always ranked the #1 NEO server in the world and was always ranked 10 to 15 in the world among TFC servers. keep in mind, ot clan has quite a few league players and younger members as well. |

I have a question about these "warnings."
Why the hell are slay, burn, beacon, what-have-you even options? Kick the bastard and free up a slot for someone less annoying. Let that be the warning. (That's what I do, anyway.)

seriously, I admin a server with a no swearing rule...
verbal warning, then kicked if its kept up slaying is for flag holders (Edit: Also, I really don't see saying "yes daddy" to an someone telling you to watch your language as disrespect. I used to use the name "Grey Leader" and have gotten called "Gay Leader." Now thats disrespect) Last edited by Fjorn; 05-10-2007 at 12:43 AM. |
