The guy in the vid who reviewed FF...basically a yogurt

---Boy you guys whacked that thread quickly....and here I had such a great comment prepared for it. I won't post the video link, but for anyone that watched it, here's what I thought of it....even if he was being facetious...---

This guy comes off as a nimrod who breathes too hard... Obviously, sitting in place and pressing buttons really makes the guy winded.

More great quotes from the reviewer (other than "it's basically a remake of the original TFC"):

"And ummmm......(breathes hard into mic) and basically if you like the original one, then you'll probably like this as well just because it's pretty much the same game play.....(breathes in deep) not that I've played the original."

*TIME OUT! side note/rant* WTF is it with assholes who think they are knowledgeable, and the use of the word "basically?" Every moron who wants to sound like they know shit uses that word in like, every goddamn sentence...

*This is all Bill Gates' fault....the fucking world goddamn champion at using the word "basically" all the fucking time. "And basically Windows can do this and that.....basically that's what we're trying to accomplish.....if you want to make this happen, then basically that's what you want to do."

*Well....he's a goddamn know nothing wanna-be smart guy nimrod, who has bullshitted everyone into thinking that he ever knew anything whatsoever about computers, and he was not some sort of bs peddler....aka a salesman. So, now every wanna-be rich guy uses that word way too much....even when referring to something basic!

Back to the quotes:

"It doesn't have quite the same artistic style as TF2."

"They basically revamped the Source engine so that it's got a new interface, and this new help when it's loading, so this is good."

"kinda futuristicky style-ish" (referring to models)

"Don't know this map at'all" (while playing on well)

"Whoa! What!" (after being sniped on well standing still on sniper blacony, as a Scout)

"OK well...that's basically Team Fortress Classic....classic with updated graphics.....ummmm."

All this time the dude's computer is laggy as hell......he's breathing heavier than a coke head in Columbia.....and yes, he runs around a lot with the single shotgun out.

Either this guy is a FF fan who is parodying the TF2 mouth breathers, or he is a perfect example of why most people on this planet make me want to barf on my keyboard. It's BASICALLY a great example of either.

Anyone with a webcam , and a blog is a critic now a days.

The guy knew nothing about fortress , it was obvious.
He knows nothing about game development.
He is really out of shape, probably all the long days of hitting the refresh button for DIGG.com, and making the "OMG! top 20 list about...."

I saw this video too and it's still on wegame.com unfortunately... It does suck to have people who think they know everything there is to know about it, and it seemed to me like this guy plays a lot of TF2, not realizing what TFC or FF are all about, except for 2nd hand accounts, such as other people talking about how TFC plays and such. What's even more depressing is the steamcommunity.com post about TF2 getting grenades, not because there will be nades, but because of the mindless comments such as, "I will not go to any server that has this plugin," and just complete babble about how shitty they were in TFC, talking about those spam fests on dustbowl... Just because nades are available, doesn't mean the game will play any worse. In fact, TFC is proof that it did work. A decade it has been out, and people STILL play it, regardless of TF2 or FF being available...

And while I would have liked a TFC:S game, which is literally what I prayed for before ever hearing about FF or TF2, I've come to really enjoy FF a lot. I rarely play TFC anymore, and if I do, it's for the specific maps that FF doesn't have yet. And while I might not agree with everything the devs are doing to build on this game, such as the removal of caltrops(^_^), I do like the general direction this mod is being taken in.

On a more serious note, it's alarming how probably 90% of the new FF'ers start (and most probably give up on) FF like this.

That video was funny... It's kind of sad though. Someone should post some comments for him explaining his mistakes in a constructive manner.

FF seems to me to be a clone of TFC, which is what I like about it. While I have had major problems getting in to servers (Which is probably why more people aren't playing it) I have played it a few times and it seemed exactly what I had hoped TF2 was going to be, a new looking TFC but with the same play style (Nades, conc jumping, bunny hopping, etc..).

I did notice a couple things though. The classes aren't balanced like in TFC. Soldiers seem to have way too many HP. By HP I mean ability to stay alive even when nailed with 2 nades in the face and multiple shotgun hits ( I Play medic usualy). It may just be that nades were nerfed...I dunno. I can't really speak for all classes since I haven''t played it enough yet, but that was the first thing I noticed right off the bat.

Also, It seems that when throwing a grenade it doesn't travel very far, or atleast not as far as in TFC. That is trivial, but annoying.

I am really wondering though why no one is playing this game? I logged on today to see only 73 servers of which 72 were empty.... Dissapointing to say the least. It has to be because of all the log in issues.

I haven't played TFC in a couple years, are the TFC servers still packed?

Actually you're right.

Nade damage was high in the initial release, was lowered in 1.1 and subsequent, and is being brought back up in the new patch (along with better push, thanks to the improved explosion code). So yeah.

Um greenday, both of the Twisted Network servers (24/7 Dustbowl, 24/7 2fort/Well) are always full during the day and night. Then there's Drippy's, Jigglypuff's, Dark Realm, Smiley's 2fort, The Gas Chamber, and a handful of others.

Although a lot of servers are empty a lot of the time I have still managed to play every night for the last two weeks on a full European server for a couple of hours at a time. As has been said a million times go onto an empty server and others will follow.

I got the impression you were breathing too hard while typing your original post and possibly that you got too worked up over a review of a game. Thats what impression I got.

If I was breathing hard while typing, it was because your Mom stopped over. I typed that inbetween us looking at internet porn, and that's why I missed replying to the thread before it was deleted....I was distracted.

I think it's safe to put the link back in here. The thread I made got moved to the beta forum for other reasons.
