I only played this game once. I was on a head full of acid. I think I lost. Thats all I remember.

Carcassone is better.

But this is pretty good too.

My younger brother introduced this game to me, I loved it instantly. It was easy to pickup, literally within 2 rounds around a full board everyone knew how to play. It was learning the strategies that was the difficult part.

I found an online version of it called Sea3D and played it a ton (still play it every now and then). It took me forever to get my friends to try it (reluctant to try anything new type of people) and only was able to finally get them to play when one of my friend's girlfriend from germany was psyched to know I had a copy of it and got everyone together to play. They all liked it instantly too and I never had a problem getting them to play it from that point on.

My brother bought the seafarers and cities+knights expansions. Now he told me there was another expansion he just bought, I'll have to try out with him next time I head home to visit.

Carcassone is fun too, and is great when there's only 2 of you around since settlers takes 3 people minimum.

It is quite enjoyable. My brother, cousins, and I play it at family gatherings and whatnot.

Having suffered through years and years of Catan craze (it originated here in germany after all), the mere mention of the word Catan triggers an urge to vomit. Honestly.

My new fave game: Anno Domini ..

(or various non-standard card games)

Okay, so... I tried Sea3D and all I got was a bunch of people booting me from games because I was had no standing in rank. Real great there, you're gonna get a hell of a lot of new players in your 5 year old program when you kick everyone new. (And this wasn't one or two games - this went on for an hour.)

Thankfully, I found a nice site called http://www.AsoBrain.com that has Catan dead on that runs in Java. It's made very well and they have a variety of maps. I'd love to get a game going sometime with youse gais.

I didn't like the look of that java app one. I prefer Sea3D, but like you said it's an older app and it's not a huge player base. The trick to playing those games is to host, I only kick people from a game I host if they don't hit the "ready" button fast enough and we're waiting on him I never look at scores.

You have to make sure you register you account as a "ladder" account though, people really only play those

IIRC Monopoly came out when Germany was having huge inflation issues, and all the bills are inflated in the German version, no?

The link doesn't work for me. But I'm going to go ahead and wager a guess and ask if it's the hand carved beautifully crafted set that costs an arm and a leg to buy.

I saw it in a store once and wanted to get it. It's like owning a really nice looking chess board for playing and displaying.

You should shoot me a tell on steam friends sometime and we can play a round or two online.
