I like how it was one of the valvE people who brought up Fortress Forever, first. They weren't "coax'd" into talking about it. Also, there is a link to this site in there. Another nice touch. I'm hoping for that "Friday update" mention, too....but not holding my breath.

quit beating a dead horse? (arguing which is better f2 or ff)

promoting would be good.

just mention it in servers, etc

play with your name as "www.fortress-forever.com"

make clever advertisement sprays - i believe there was a thread about this?

lots of things you can do...

Mention in a news post would be above and beyond, but they should at least do what they do for every other third party mod and include it on the Steam third party mod list.

It usually takes awhile for most mods to get put on there. Otherwise that thing would be flooded full of dead mods. For example compare the amount of mods at moddb compared to the list that is there. FF isn't getting "less treatment".

FF should have come out in the summer of 2006. Would have been better known and a huge impact on the TF community even if the mod wasn't quite ready. BETA for everybody would have been the way to go.

Input from the WHOLE community would have been the smart choice.

I dunno, a lot of mods have tried that open Beta thing, and people got a bad taste in their mouths and never came back.

It seems to me most HL2 mods don't have a large player base

Wow, old topic, did it ever happen? Also, the open beta thing would have been cool, then I might have found out about this mod before November of this year. xD

TFC was a beautiful..............

women with all her curves and FF somehow made her even hotter...more irresistable. TF2 took the hot girl and turned her into one ulgy $#% skank who people laugh at and poke fun off as it was a joke. Why make a hot girl ugly??? Dont ask me....ask Valve and their great idea to turn it into something that so pure into a pile of vomit that will end up smelling in the long run.

I have said it now and will sai it again...........TF2 will have no staying power like TFC ever did. I give it 1.5 years and then flat.

So, according to your logic, FF will have no staying power either, because it is based on TFC.

Wait what? He said that TF2 doesn't have staying power. TFC has lasted for 8+ years, so if FF is based on TFC how it is suposed to have "no staying power"?

FF........will have staying power.....

TF2 will not. FF is more close to the original TFC in what the clans and veterans who kept it alive wanted. They will do the same for FF and TF2 will fade away. We will see who is right in 1.5 years.

You can't sit in the middle of a desert and claim its full of grass and water. As long as Valve supports TF2 it should keep going for awhile. This mod on the other hand is the one that will have the most potential problems in sticking around if it doesn't take off properly.

Oops, sorry, my eyes went wrong. Thanks for pointing that out.

Yeah, and Windows Vista will fade away because a lot of ppl support Windows XP and it's stability and other features are better than in Windows Vista. Microsoft will lose $1.2 million dollars by then because nobody will be buying Vista and it will take 3 years to develop a new OS before they can sell it. We will also see who is right in 1.5 years.

For god sake...

With all the plans for FF, with all the support, with all the people who are willing to help, this mod will stay on it's feet and eventually become a contender against TF2. It might take a while, and there certainly will be skeptics telling us that we can't do it, that FF is dead, that FF is a Fucking Failure, however, those are the people who are better off playing TF2 because they obviously had no love for TFC, and probably have the attention span of a dead cow.....

Skepticism aside, look at the plans in the works RIGHT NOW... Things are obviously getting better, more people are making custom models, maps, etc. The more customized this game becomes, we start catering to a lot of the old TFC crowd. We also should have a thread in regards to those who's PC's cannot handle this game, allowing them to see what it might cost to build a better PC, or find the cheapest way to go about getting HL2 or another Sourcemod so they can play this game free.

Aside from the 3 weapon ideas, or the new leadership, things can only happen by people acting, making those touch choices that determine whether a mod goes forward or stays where it's at. So, I urge every one of you to do your part, even if you feel you don't got the talent, even if it's simply idling in a server for 15 minutes, after all, you could use that time to practice your conc jumping, or bhopping and such. We need to use these next few months very wisely if we want this mod to succeed, and with that, I conclude my giant fuck of a rant.
