Thoughts? The MMS support is one of the better things they've added, I think. If it all works well, it'll definitely move back up onto the list of possible phones.

The differences between a legit iPhone and a jailbroke iPhone are worlds apart.

Imagine you have a car, but you can't put any aftermarket parts in it because the onboard computer is wired into goddamned everything. Put on a turbo and the thing won't start. Now, let's say someone invents a chip that disables this function, and people can pimp their rides again. That is the difference between a regular iPhone and a jailbroken iPhone.

I just love how companies are constantly waging this war against homebrew - the PSP, PS3, and iPhone are the three biggest offenders in this department. Nintendo, either through neglect, not caring, or understanding its customer base, really doesn't give two shits about counteracting all of the awesome homebrew that is currently available for the DS and Wii. (R4DS is the fucking shiznit.)

The iPhone SDK is crap, too. Apps aren't allowed to run as background processes. That means if you're in AIM, you can't run it in the background while you look at your calender. You have to close the app, check your calender, and open it again. The iPhone is perfectly capable of this functionality, but for some reason Apple doesn't want apps to run in the background. Fuck all if I know why.

The greatest thing of all, though, is that even the most advanced phones in America (and the iPhone is nowhere near the top of that list) were old half a decade ago in Japan. They can watch TV on their stuff, they have like 10 megapixel cameras, internet access (no wifi required). Jesus, you can download porn onto your phone straight from the Internet. We're so far behind in the times it's not even funny.

That said, I'll be getting an OpenPandora to handle all of my organizational stuff I'll use my phone for calls, and I'll use the pandora for everything else, from ROMs to browsing the web, calender, etc.

So in short, the iPhone is a piece of crap. A pretty piece of crap, but a piece of crap nonetheless. Break the love spell for a moment and look at its features, and check out all of the shit you're missing out on.
