A Game of Thrones

Has anyone read this? I'm really into medieval fantasy, and this sounds right up my alley. I know it's a huge book, but from what I hear, it's something that will draw me in and is unlike the regular archetype storyline where everything is very predictable and the hero always comes out on top.

It will eat your soul.

That being said, it's my favorite fantasy series hands down and one of my favorite books by any author of any genre. It isn't for the faint of heart; lots of political intrigue, the good guys do lose (so do the bad guys), as well as some of the best descriptive writing I've ever encountered. There are tons of characters that are involved in the plot with very little of it being predictable. Not to say he makes unicorns fly out of a dragon's ass to save the girl from being raped. But sometimes she just cuts the dude's dick off.
