um, jam on...like idk how to really explain it, but I think that what gwarsbane said applies. He wants to be able to pound music and still have it sound good...but I think he's confused and think that it's going to be the soundcard that does that and not the speakers. But also he wants to just be able to do a lot of stuff with his computer for music. So like he wants to be able to use it to mess with this guy's music and shit. So that he could put out something that is at least - semi-professional (idk the lingo but mixing it and messing with stuff so that it's nice).

Quite true as there are other much more expensive, and slightly better sounding speakers out there, but there is also the fact that if he was truly into super high end audio production he would be spending more then 400 to 500 bucks for a computer.

But because hes not, and I'm pretty sure he is not going to be spending 400 to 500 bucks (minimum) per speaker any time soon, the logitech ones will do just fine and unless you're going to be rocking a huge hall area you're not going to notice the difference anyway.

Heck my Z-5300e setup sounds pretty good inside and out and I only spent 100 bucks on them (found on ebay for one heck of a deal)

speakers for audio production is quite expensive at the first step imo. he might like to start with a 150$+/- studio headphone.. (can afford shure/sennheiser/etc)

and yes, there are some (starter) sound cards of m-audio which gives everything it needs to a personal audio studio system

i dont rly have a wide knowledge about computer hardwares but i guess ram and cpu would be the most critical parts for audio process..

Awesome deal on a refurbished pc if your friend hasn't bought one yet. Only good for 48 hours though.
