so you have one guy on your team with a horribly negative score and you shut the other team out... maybe...

Yeah, at the moment the sniper gets points for tagging. It'll have to be tweaked though, 'cuz snipers get godly scores with minimal effort atm.

Maybe you can have score (standard tfc scoring) and another column called Assist where you get points for doing things that assist the team (i.e. killing the guy with the flag, killing a guy in your flag room, healing someone, spannering someone, tagging someone as sniper)

That way you can reward people who act as a team and still have the classic score system in place. Also at the end of the round people should get various awards. I guess i'll make a new thread about this.

sounds like a smart idea to me

At first i was a bit sick when i saw this tagging. To me it seemed the simple sight of an enemy player tagged him and allowed the sniper to see. This would be hell for sniping servers, but as i know no one cares about that...

Im very excited for this. The idea is brillant and it really make the sniper viable. Especially experienced snipers who have always been waiting to be accepted by the rest of their ctf class buddies. We will give you momentary ESP, love us.

Haha, good work FF. Now release the damn thing.

Well if you just keep rushing in there and getting a few odd kills (like me) versus a player who actually plays with skill the death column is quite important. It's much more impressive to get 30 kills and 10 deaths than 30 kills and 50 deaths

are the tracter bullets going to tag instantly or have velocity like a tranq bullet from tfc?

Again, you can only see the tagged player up to a certain distance. It does not allow you to see the tagged player from across the entire map. Unless on these sniper servers you play mostly in close proximity to eachother I doubt it will effect you at all.

You can even see this in the video on the front page. Sniper tags the HW and dies. When he respawns he doesn't see the tag until he is almost to the forward exit of the respawn.

i am all for removing the death column. there is absolutely NO NEED to see how many times you have died... it's only use is to say "look i am so bad ass i only died 2 times and killed 60 people!" i think it should be:

team with team points at top
columns across: name, points (caps etc), frags (kills only no caps) and ping

assists sounds cool but... what could you give them for? flag touches? killing the flag carrier? damaging someone then dying and then the next offense kills them and you get an assist and they get the frag? tagging? infecting? concing someone to aid your team example: you conc the hw and he kills you but the other guy on your team kills him so you get the assist? actually sounds cool. true assists would be awesome...

The death column is kinda nice for when you are running offense you can see how many runs you have done. Apart from that I really don't look at it that much. Unfortunately there are a lot of people out there who value a K ratio over teamwork.

its been said once and i will say it again. adopt something similar to UT2K4's stats system. make it so deaths can be seen, but not on the main scoreboard. there can be a separate sheet for more detailed stats like how many deaths you had, flag touches, kills with certain weapons, etc. main board should be as coalesce said, name, caps (points), kills.

so does that mean that someone else is going to take on the job or that it wont be in the first release? cuz fuck the stats, i dont even need to see scores if it makes ff out quickerlike
