Pain Sprites?

I would like to make some but having a time finding the right files to edit. 640_pain_up etc. doesn't work. Can someone point me to the files or is it even possible like the rocket flares? :3

I would also like to find how to edit this, as well as the conc effect. I'd like to be able to not edit the actual effect, but maybe put some sort of translucent texture over it so I can put customer textures on it.

It doesn't use a texture. It draws a polygon that has a variable width, etc based on how much damage you are taking.

I have some plans for the rocket flare in 2.2, but the pain sprites I'm not so sure about.
