I can understand that your a bit tired of all the ipod shit, i know i am.. but still the ipod design was pretty brilliant. I think its cool how the managed to design something with such a broad apeal and gear that didnt have the same sense of cheapness that you usually find in consumer electronic product design and materials.

That car on the other hand is just flat out ugly.

we differ here... I'm an avid consumer of these things and I use to carry around a portable miniDisk player all the time... 46 hours play time on a single double A, and no skipping... I'm comfortable with portable high tech. The iPods seem dulled down, lacking features, incredibly overpriced for their value, and made childish by a simplified design your 5 year old could figure out. It is obviously a mass-market product, but what can I say, I never liked the design and to me it represents everything wrong with consumer electronics. They did the click-wheel, thats about the only grace.

Perhaps we feel / interpret this device differently... to you it doesnt feel cheap and it has a lot of perepherals... to me its a knock-off barbie with 50 billion different dresses. For the obsessive compulsive cell-phone crowd, or at best the "I wish I was 15 years younger and still obsessive compulsive" crowd. I cant compell myself to invest in hype when the advantage is so obviously not genuine... it just happens to fall under the same reasons I would never buy a $50 compact still camera, a 1 color capture chip video camera, head-phones with a built-in mic, or a cell phone with a permanent animated background. Its bad consumer sence. I would argue with anyone who tried to portray apple as consumer friendly... when they are so incredibly proprietary and artificialy limit their devices to generate profit off the un-informed consumer and up the price of their brand without increasing real value, as if it was actualy worth more just because it said apple.

Compare the iPod to the kingston K-PEX, or the Sandisk Sansa E line of players and you'll see what I mean.
