MAP RELEASE: ff_aardvark_BATTLESHIPS

Sooo, I thought it would be cool if I made an alternative "fun" gameplay mode for the map, in which the objective is pretty much to piss about midmap!

no doupt, aardvark is a awesome map, i think the mid section could use some more cover like trees imo,

Yeah I agree! more cover is needed. I went afk as spy cloaked and disguised in a corner, and came back just in time to see the sniper kill me.

How on earth could he see me? I was still cloaked and disguised in a corner...

I'm guessing you were a bit bored then You could have take quite alot out of the map to make the file size smaller and compile time shorter tho (basement, bathrooms etc)

No, I'm not bored lol: I want some "fun" FF maps to play on when I'm in that mood. I decided not to remove any bits of the original map (just removed the flags) so that ppl can do whatever they want wherever they want, and can learn the layout and not get confused by any differences (from posts I was reading just earlier today it seems a few ppl still haven't figured out the layout yet, and no toilets would make the lake messy anyway...). Btw I don't want to add any more cover to the midmap for various important reasons, so it's staying as it is in both versions.

Can you make the water larger and add an iceberg that can be used to sink the ships? And, instead of RED vs BLUE make it Pirates vs Lumberjacks.

Someone should make a fun server with it on please, I wanna play some!

Btw there's another fun map being made my mervaka atm which should be great when it's done. This is the kinda thing that FF is lacking atm imo, so come on mappers get busy and creative!

We have scheduled a little event on battleship map happening friday 28th at 8GMT start on the smackdown2 server

we was thinking 6 v 6 if numbers allow with a limit of 1 HW and 1 sniper

If you want to join in could you drop me a pm on #ffsmackdown on irc and i will add names to list and sort teams etc b4 tomorow.

Hehe, nice. Btw the more ppl the btr imo. Also, in playtesting we found class restrictions really aren't needed: it's all about moving the BATTLESHIPS ofc (demoman, hw, sniper, soldier are the best for this btw), and each class has massive pros and cons for this so it ends up balancing itself. Limiting classes will just make it much less fun imo. Also, there's very little point in simply dming the nme, cos that doesn't capture no BATTLESHIPS! Having your whole team focus entirely on the objective seems to win every time, and you can even use the nme to assist you once you get good (for example, nudge a BATTLESHIP just before an nme demoman blows his trap, so that he fires it the way you want it to go!).

I want to play it now lol, but no servers on net yet

point taken :P will see how many ppl are intrested in it and class restrictions are removed

we will be adding the map onto our server 2 as a permanent rotation for a bit of light relief :P
