cant you just make a big trigger_hurt everywhere except water, and make the lua control the damage, and only damage certain people? Just wondering.

duh, i just remembered an overlay is a decal on roids in Hammer, i was talking about the overlay in Source, my bad!

I would say use func_smokevolume, but it can't be toggled on/off. It also has a big impact on frame rates if not used correctly. You could probably hack around the on/off by parenting the func_smokevolume to a door or train and have it move into the map, but that would probably look terrible.

oh, and please keep in mind that anything below DX9 does NOT have the screen effect. i dunno, the devs never put in a fallback material for it. it even says in console **FF ERROR** Not yet implented for >dx9!**

the fog i'm talking about is only going to be about knee high in some places, not the kinda y'all are talking about. this is assuming i feel like picking this map back up.

if so then i plan on trying to create my own fog texture, i dunno, may be able to make one very nicely.
