lack of players

I admit i havent played FF in a while and tonight i played it again. My server list showed only 3 servers with players on.

When i got on the server i asked if everyone got the same results to which i got the reply YES.

they said only about 3 servers with players on it nowadays is this right? Is it bad info or has FF really died?

I got to say i love this mod and i also love TF2. Ive read this forum for at least a year previous to release and thought the community was strong enough to provide a good player base.

Its looking now as though i was wrong is this really the way it is?

It really is a shame for the community around this game and the people who made it. This mod was very well done.

Plz someone tell me iam wrong!!!

I don't really play unless when I check for servers there is one running a CTF map with people in it.

To tell you the truth, any HL2 mod is a hard sell at this point..

Too many great new things coming out, not as much attention on the mod scene as there used to be..

This is why we need to advertise it. Here are a few ideas.
  1. If you go to other forums, put some kind of reference to Fortress Forever in your signature (banners, etc.), and link it to the website.
  2. Try to invite people into the official Fortress Forever Steam Community group. Hey, maybe they'll see what Fortress Forever is and play it (if they have no clue).

This mod has way too many tecnical glitches yet, the inestability is huge. I hope they get this issue before than ANYTHING, if i wasnt that "hardcore tfc/ff gaming style fan" player and if tfc havent died in my country i would uninstalled the mod like weeks ago...

go into a server and wait. just wait.

we(2-3 of us) go into our server and start playing and within minutes ppl are joining. we'll jump up to 12 ppl before the end of the map.

Instability?

What instability? the 1.1 patch basically fixed instability problems. If a person has any issues, they need to look at their own system and drivers.

How about the random crashes or the "CL_CopyExistingEntity: missing Client entity xxx" that hunt almost all the players i know.

Its time to say stop to the "its just ur computer, not the mods fault" when all the other source mods run smooth plus at least the 60% of the players have this errors.

You are playing on cracked servers. I would think that throws some other things into the mix. Don't be so fast to point fingers at FF.

/shrug I still get random crashes to server select screen. It happens on different servers

Atleast I'm not randomly crashing to desktop anymore though. But yes I still get booted out of the game occasionally.

I deal with it though, others can't.

Coming from HL2CTF mod, I can say: Learn to love it.


Also throw in some e-drama every now and again to keep things fresh.

Maybe... thats and old post.. and maybe Veekachu gifted me an hl2, maybe i created a clan named soldiers of the night (-sN-, +9 players) with soulja and maybe i play everyday FF on legal servers with legal steam getting skilled ppl aboard the clan and organizating scrims... maybe our clan even has a legal server... what the hell, maybe even there is a freaking FORUM LEADER on our clan...

And maybe i see everyday people getting owned by those 2 errors, maybe there are threads with lots of ppl having this things such as

RAWR, I just had a great game last night on sN server on this congestus map! I never get this error you are speaking of though ghostbuster, did you try reinstalling and redownloaded steam and games?

OK, more info is good info.

Give the devs as many details on the errors as possible. Things such as:

maps
if you notice any triggers
full or partially empty servers
One class or any class

Basically, just give any info that you see as being common during an error. Also, keep and eye on the Help and Tips area at the STEAM forums. Some errors/bugs are common to multiple games and mods.

OH... and check Google for CL_CopyExistingEntity too. It gives about 92 results across multiple games.

My answer as to why there are not that many players - what should have happened, what could have happened and what did happen is in the past.

FF is one of the best mods I have ever seen. In all of my gaming experiences, just like in real life, sometimes bad things happen to good mods.
