ROFL
this, i think, will be EPIC. i only wonder if it will be half as unbalanced as MVC2. Cable + Sentinel + Blackheart = practically unbeatable. (of course most people liked magneto more, but im not much of a dialacombo fag, im a chipper at heart ) but yeah, if this is serious, which it looks like it just might be, it is interesting to say the least. lets just hope they have some really sweet fatalities and have gotten rid of the create a fatality shit. |

yeah i just saw that upon further reading.
a mortal kombat game without brutal fatalities... the fuck? like... really? fatalities were pretty much the only thing that made mortal kombat survive amidst all the other fighting games. god knows the actual fighting engine isnt that great... lets make a fortress game without classes next. |

Well, comic books are scoring a huge revival lately thanks to movies.
Mortal Kombat as we know it was "dead". Most people considered the last game released to be the last MK game for a long time. Someone in corporate (either at DC or Midway) probably said "Hey, look how good we're doing with the movies. We need a game to go with DC. But it needs something to draw in the people who aren't fans of comics..."

The attractive features of games like Marvel v. Capcom is that Capcom can make a good fighting game.
Mortal Kombat hasn't produced anything worthwhile since Shaolin Monks, and that was the only worthwhile one since Mortal Kombat II. Weird that SM has an MK2 unlockable in it.

There was like... one master combo per character? Once you mastered that combo, you destroy as that character. I consistantly beat my friend (who creams me in other fighting games regularly) because I could pull off the full combos of a few characters. Landing all of it would take off 1/2 - 2/3 of their life, so two of these suckers and it's over. The MK after that introduced... well, C-C-C-COMBO BREAKERS. That helped a bit. MK has never really captured the speed of games like Street Fighter and Guilty Gear, and its derivatives. My favorite fighting game is still Gundam Wing: Endless Duel, though. I kick ass as Shenlong.

I popped Deadly Alliance in my PS2 the other day and was all like from how slow-paced it was... I couldn't stand playing more than a few minutes worth of it, I had to pop Soul Calibur III back in... Street Fighter I just play on my comp though ^^ Quote:

the newer MKs are all about defense. its mainly a game of turtling and trying to counter attack to set up for a big combo. as far as a full game goes, deception was pretty good. it had a time consuming but still decently fun (if a bit monotonous and with horrible graphics) konquest mode and some pretty fun mini games. the fighting itself was ok, i liked the style branching combos and the juggling, and the combo breakers were a nice addition. its still a slow and sluggish game, but i found it to be fun (i played it for a long time)
i still cant fathom an MK game without gory fatalities... thats a blasphemy and MvC2 is horribly unbalanced. but i still find it to be quite fun |

I'm just glad there's been a trend of late where companies are bringing really good Japanese fighting games stateside at a discount price (Guilty Gear Accent Core, Arcana Heart, etc.). I DON'T HAVE TO DEAL WITH MIDWAY'S CRAP NO MO'.
Oh, and yeah, Konquest was alright. It was basically a less-fun Shaolin Monks clone, and as I already mentioned, Shaolin Monks was pretty good. Except that if you played as Scorpion/Sub-Zero, they still called you Liu Kang. That's just laziness. Quote:
Playing MK in Practice Mode was, last I checked, physically painful.
