Warsow is... fast. Really fast.
Fastest game on the planet? And this is just a guy running around a pub. Still, it's one hell of a game, I recommend it if arena shooters are your thing. Alas, the NA community is pretty... non-existent, as of this writing. It's there, but it doesn't even come close to the size of the Euro community. |

That's gun game, it isn't that fast when you're playing normal dm but it's still fast. Too bad nobody really plays this.

Oh, gotcha.
I still remember playing instagib and seeing people fly all over the map similar to this guy... it was absurd. What was more absurd is how they would hit each other flying at those speeds and looping, ducking, and diving around walls. |

this game takes an extreme amount of skill to play, and that's just to play.

i play wsw actively on ica servers and i can easily confirm that this is one of the fastest games atm. by fast, i mean quite faster than this guy on the video.
ica has the most servers and players on warsow that you can find a server with some players at almost any time. most of the time 4-5 servers are populated enuff to play. see my videos here which are recorded like years ago. the version was 0.5 or smth (dont mind the 150 fov ive used quite long time) http://beta.xfire.com/users/w0rnoff/videos altho these are quite regular shots, this one if my fav: http://beta.xfire.com/videos/133e24 there are plenty of guys who play real well id say download it now, if you rly are into fast-paced fps |

Warsow 1.0 has just come out and is much more polished than the previous 0.6 version. There were at least 5 games going on today with different modes, all full of people too.

Negative nancy reporting in.
Warsow has a similar problem that tribes ascend does, it's a better tactic to just move in a mostly straight line at 9999mph than to try and actually dodge shots; this is a very uninteractive style of movement. It's also fast enough to push the limitations of fps netcode, at which point you're fighting the game engine and the player's connections instead of the actual players. Although Warsow seems to handle it better than most other engines. I'd honestly rather have a slower game that at least in part encourages interactive movement (tfc anyone) than something as fast as possible. But I'm pretty much impossible to please in terms of FPS games. |

I think a lot of it depends on the people playing. I spectated a few duels with very, very excellent players, and it was a beautiful thing to watch. Granted, I prefer some aspects of Quake, such as its slower pace, in some respects. Warsow feels fluid, but like you said, a lot of it feels like I'm just dive bombing my opponent -- chucking a few rockets at him followed by a quick LG kill. I don't see myself doing that in Quake as much, because the games play so differently from one another.

I don't really get the physics in this game. I get that you can go really fast, but the acceleration seems fairly slow? Even when started with a dash. Should I be strafe jumping to accelerate fast, and only use air control around corners and such?
And I still feel like there's some mouse accel, even though I have it turned off. |

Default.
Also I may have to agree with cake here. Game may be to fast for its own good. (once you get going that is) Last edited by FDA_Approved; 08-04-2012 at 10:31 PM. |

1.01 is coming out soon, with some great bug fixes.
However, I tend to play Xonotic when I'm looking for an arena shooter that isn't QL. |

wsw was fun, but I think it's kind of a poop game. The physics feel very awkward and unatural, fly around at arbitrary speeds, and the dash mechanic is just a fail safe. Press dash any time you would other wise lose momentum.

It's not AS BAD in 1.0 since the weapons are less of peashooters, however I agree. Also stun is a pathetic hack at trying to fix the afterthought of gameplay (the design document consisted of little more than 'make cyberpunk parkour' during my time). Glad they finally gave up on duel ammos, but at the end of the day it's just not that fun to duel

Dueling in Quake Live ftw! \o/
I'm a Pro subscriber (DON'T JUDGE ME!) so if you'd ever like to duel a complete retard, hit me up. I personally *love* the PQL ruleset. |
