IE 8; How do I remove Colored Tabs?

I loved the way tabbed browsing worked in IE 7, but now that I'm using IE 8, I have this shitty colored group tab feature that absolutely makes no sense whatsoever.

First off, when I open a pop up or link in IE from the currently active tab, I want it to open immediately to the right of the active tab, like it was in IE 7. Currently, if I have group tabs turned off, it moves the new tab all the way to the right. If I have group tabs turned on, it moves it all the way to the right of the group tabs. How do I revert back to those settings?

Secondly, I want to keep group tabs, but I want to remove the retarded colors. Any way to do this?

Finally, I've noticed some processes with my CRM software have slowed down considerably since updating to IE 8. What can be done to speed things up?

I googled most of these questions, but found little help...

Don't know about the tabs, but as for speed you might try some of the tweaks listed in this article for IE8 (also has tweaks for Firefox/Opera/Chrome):

Heh, IE is required for the CRM program I use. Thanks for the info.

I tried the MS fix from their website, and it said my SP3 is interfering, so great news, this means I get to uninstall sp3, apply the fix, then redl sp3.

They never make it easy.

IE 8 shows up in my Remove/Add programs list, but no option to remove... How gay is that? And that I read it's a feature, not a bug.

Tools > Internet Options > Settings Button Under "Tabs"

Uncheck "Enable Tab Groups."
