I've had my life saved once by a seatbelt (driving recklessly, hit a ditch, rolled three times). This video should be required viewing for driver's ed students.

I found that video sad and depressing.

But I agree, it should be showed to drivers' ed students. There are many drivers that simply don't pay attention on the road. Mostly because they don't care.

I can't say, however, that these people will care by watching the video. Their problem is that they don't believe this sort of thing can happen to them. They are special, above the odds and so forth. What we need to do is put forth a team of people who seek out these careless drivers and stage terrible accidents (fake ones) and make them think they killed small innocent children. Then, when they finally get over the emotional damage, they'll be more careful.

...then again I'm bitter.

I posted a similar thing on my blog today. I don't drink when I go out, so I can be a DD for someone who needs it. Having obnoxious drunks vomiting in my car is a small price to pay for saving a life.

A seatbelt saved my life. Also, bad posture. Years of sitting poorly at a desk and finding it more comfortable to slouch along with the seatbelt are why I'm alive.

Anyone that has killed or hurt anyone when driving because they were not paying attention or variables in their control deserves to die themselves. There was a man who killed a child riding in a car in a DUI accident that was his fault because he was drunk and it was during the day. He served years in prison and the day he got out of prison the father of the slain child killed him within hours of his release. I say it was too long in coming.

I say if you know someone who has done something like this you need to play the judge and deal the punishments out as you see fit.

One of my employees at work has a friend that just killed someone driving like an idiot. It bothers me primarily because he's all "free my friend from jail!" but the story is that he was speeding, and ran from the cops when they tried to pull him over.

He went over 120 mph (he modified his car a lot) and crossed into on coming traffic. He crashed into a car which hit another car, which killed someone. I think he is getting manslaughter for it... but still, the idiot was stupid, and careless and got someone killed. Had he just pulled over he would have what? paid a fine? But now someone is dead and he's going to jail for a long time.

he may still get off. I would really like to see an increase in public safety, even it means I have to give up some of my rights to the use of the road. This kind of shit happens every week here, boys and girls that are still children, dying in all kinds of highspeed intoxicated automobile accidents. It makes me very sad.

I wouldn't advocate killing in vengence as a response for someone being careless. I understand the emotional aspsect, and can't fault the father for doing as he did, but I was raised to believe that the punishment is to fit the infraction, not the outcome.

I would at least verbally slap that employee, if not physically. The friend was stupid, and someone died, he deserves the jail time he gets. Depending on what the guy was actually being pulled over for, he could get as little as a warning, and the most would've probably just been a fine.

then you should die...............that is all there is to it. If the legal system does not serve you in the way you feel is just then I have to say to do what you feel is just. I will not say what I have done but I do advocate extreme measures against rapists, child molestors, murderers and people causing death because they were stupid. I say kill of these people so that I do have to pay for them to rot in jail and since they are heading to hell someday anyways you are kind of helping them out with a shortcut.
