As for TF2 haters.... I'm hoping you didn't mean me. My main beef with the game, to put it bluntly, is that it's called a Fortress Game when it's not. {shrug} Oh, if anyone get's a Pass for this game.... how about sending it my way? I only got 5 minutes of playtime before it wouldn't let me play the demo anymore.... and I can't afford the game yet. (I'm seriously strapped for cash right now).

Rock2 - you can die in the gas chamber after capping. Suits do not always save you either. This was not the case before the Steam conversion. Crossover2 - Sometimes(most times, actually), detpacks will not break the wall to one yard or the other(sometimes both, but usually just one). No matter how many attempts, nor which team tries to blow it. Those are the two I can remember off the top of my head... I know there are others. So, Steam does NOT "rock"..... they are like a kid with ADD.... they break shit, and don't bother to fix it. "we got your money, now get the fuck out."

I don't like Sony, but I like High Definition movies. Coincidentally, buying any Bluray results in buying a Sony product. You can like something that someone else created without liking that someone.

Also, if you have OpForce, try playing it offline. You can't, unless you have the original CD. Which, chances are, that won't work on the newer OS's(though that's not Valve's fault... but needing to try it IS.) I have computers that are older than most people on this forum, and I still use them.... to play games. They still work, the company that made them didn't break anything post purchase. The only thing I have to worry about, is the disks corrupting. My cartridge based game systems don't have that problem, and I have games that are 30 years old.

Securom is still packed on to third party Steam games. It's mainly used as a distribution method for third party companies. I also don't understand what Steam has to do with the internet or how Valve doesn't like to update old games.

Valve DOES care about it's games. While the older games are not frequently updated, the new games are.
And for the most part, the old games are generally stable, even though I can't get HL1 running on my system. Compare this to EA which has a bad reputation of not patching things. Or EA which doesn't care about it's customers as long as it has it's money. I know a lot of you hate TF2, but TF2 has had TONS of updates, not to mention the 3 big ones which most companies would now charge you for. They plan to also release these free updates for L4D. Now don't get me wrong, Valve isn't perfect. If you've ever tried to work with their servers at zero-hour you'd know. It took them several hours to release an update for the L4D windows servers so they would RUN. With TF2 they would often release a patch that would fix one thing and break 3 others. So they would release a second patch two days later to fix everything they broke. While this sucks... it's better then no patches at all. |

Split the thread, so the L4D thread can get back on topic. Continue this discussion.
