Pool league creation

I have decided to make this league as I really like the idea.

Here is what I have so far, please give suggestions/comments:

- The match will consist of 2 rounds, each round is 20 minutes.
- The whole pool system will be automated.
- There will be a website where players register their steam id.
- At the end of each match the server will send stats to the website.
- After players first connect to the server, they will be given a map vote.
+ The maps in the vote depend on how many players are in the match.

- Will show the current player standings.
- Will show players stats from each match.
- Will have an IRC chat room so users without an IRC client can use the league.

+ IRC Bot +
-----------
- Players will need to authorize with the bot so it can connect you with the website.
- Will notify users when to join the server, and the servers password.
- Will notify users if one of the servers needs a ringer.
- Will notify users of the score for the match when it's over.
- Will be used to join a match.

+ Class Limits +
----------------
- No sniper.
- Team size depends on other limits.

+ Servers +
-----------
- All pool league servers will run a SourceMod plugin that allows automation.
- Servers will not run any 3rd party plugin/script except the one listed above.
- While waiting for players to join for a match, the server will be on a fun map.
- Pre-match will last for 3 minutes so everyone has time to get prepared.

- The same game type will not be played twice in a row.
- The same map will not be played again until 5 other maps have been played.
- Each map will have a min/max player limit.
- The map is chosen depending on how many players are in the pool for the night.
+ If there is a small pool the system will choose a smaller map.
+ If there is a large pool the system will choose a larger map, or have multiple groups.

+ Groups +

- If there is a large pool the players can be grouped.
+ Ex: Group 1 plays in Server #1, while Group 2 plays in server #2.
- If there are groups, they will be selected by points.

+ Teams +

- All players active for the current match will be grouped by points.

+ Points (per round) +
----------------------
- 0.5 point for winning.
+ 0.25 if a ringer is subbed in and wins.
- 0.25 point for starting (in-game when match starts (after pre-match)).
- 0.25 point for ending (in-game when match ends).

+ Ringers +
-----------
- If there are any left over players that could not be fit on a team for any group-
these players will be assigned ringer status.
- Stay in match servers spectate team incase needed.
- If there are multiple ringers, the ringer in closest points to the player-
that left/afk will get to join.
- If a player is a ringer, they will be guaranteed a slot in the next match.

+ Going AFK +
-------------
- If a player is idle for more than 1 minute they will be subbed out.
+ Players idle during pre-match are safe.

+ Team Killing +
----------------
- TK detection will be automated.
- If a player team kills enough, they will get an infraction and kicked from the match.
+ By enough I mean helping the enemy team more than your own.
- Too many infractions will lead to a 3 week ban from all matches.

Pretty much except pickups still have teams. This way everything is always even and fun for everyone.

Still has teams? The bot generates the teams in 99% of the games (when the mode is pool, which it almost always is).

Gah, I wish everyone in that other thread didn't say they thought it would be a good idea then. I had no idea this mode existed for the pickup channel.

Waste of 2 1/2 hours thinking of ideas

If you're gonna work on stats for the pickup channel, see if you can figure out a way to record the time it takes a person to get into the server from the time the pool has assigned the teams and issued out the server ip/pw.

It takes some of these people regularily 5-10 minutes just to get into a pickup.

It just sucks when a pickup has finished, a new one immediately fills up, and it still takes us another 15 minutes until we're all there and ready to go.
