small update / big monitor

well i just got a 40 1080p samsung hd tv , and was messing with it all weekend... i must say its mind numbing good... that is, until i noticed a green flash on my screen randomly, and then random signal loss ... it didnt happen much so i thought it was the drivers tring to push 1920x1080 res.. then i did some research on it, turns out its the screen and i dont want to pry my hands off this beast so i am thinking about geting it repaired , must call samsung today... here are a few high res shots , now with the air tunnel animated texture

well, yea but there just 2d normal maps that ive done buy editing the grayscale amount in photoshop and then creating with vtf edit...most of them look ok ... some you cant notice as much... and theres a few that did not get normal maped because they are so far away you will never see it.
more boasting about my new lcd... editing is SO much more fun now, i can count the grid without strain. and well see so much more on the screen... painting on it is ok, but still odd due to the aspect ratio. one of those either i get used to it or just swap my painting process to the other machine i only have a few more textures to do now ( 1 more huge work the skybox )

they arent really "big" pictures - you just think they are big since you are viewing it from a 40 inch screen.

SirTiger, the link to ff_midair in your sig doesn't work.

The first screenshot looks awesome, and the second one would be just as good with a little variation on those textures as already suggested.

squeek. , GambiT, and punkrockrocks ... oh sorry guys i know about those textures , in a earlyer post i said that i removed the nasty brown stock hl2 texture from the whole map and i just stuck that one there so i could render the light ... was mainly showing off how it looked after geting the lighting down to where you can see stuff... in the spots you guys are pointing out , will be the 2nd longest texture that it will take me to make, its going to be a big huge green slime tank viewport.. mainly thats the reason i have not started on making the texture, i dont look forward to it ...

another small update

well not much is new here, still puting off the main wall texture(s) and the sky box update... after the primary and secondary spawns are textured ill probably move on to the big stuff... not much needed in the spawns , only 1 really needs a lot of work.. but here is a few new updated shots from suggestions here..

Textures are looking awsome on some parts. Just breath taking when thinking how the finished product will look.
Brushwork looks bit blocky. You could use more detail in them.

I dont know it's just me but sharp edges just dont look right in my eye. I try to avoid them. Also the walls could use some variation. I dont know where you should start. I bearly have no ideas for them.

hmm i was thinking of doing a turret style spawn protection but i guess i could do a lazorz one

dont want to double post because nothing is really all that new or worthy of anymore screenshots... but the new screen has my face bonded to it and im having 'troubles' doing much else then watching movies and playing various games... that said, i have a few new textures done and now starting on the main walls where i plan on having a green goo tank porthole , it will be a intresting task because i want to do a dark texture and still have lots of details sticking out...being that it will be in the players viewport 95% of the game, i however might do the secondary spawn wall textures while i gather inspiration
-edit 9-10-07 still nothing much new, finished a few more textures, and started work on the main walls, should have more pictures soon

well i think maybe i can squease some maping time in,,, although now that ff is out it is going to be really hard to pry myself away... anyhow here is some new screenshots... sofar/// i have only used 1 FF texture and its the combine field wall like texture.. here are some size adjust shots to show off some of the stuff i have not shown yet... again all these shots are still wip'y so dont think its going to look like that , just showing off some of the textures ...

just a few more sreens for the purpose that now i fixed a vmt problem , when i did the new way of normalmaping with reflections... now its working great and looking much better.. the map is geting to shape up now and soon i should have a beta test ... soon but not soon i fear ..
