Basically I have all my movement duck jump and mouse keys bound to aliases that
change per class. All classes automatically discard when you release the key
except for engineer for example, and my sniper loads on the first keypress and
releases on the second (mouse1). He also has a three step zoom script. I
changed attack2 for some classes or removed them where I couldnt find anything
useful for them. attack3 is a weaponswitch for all classes. I have two class
specifc scripts per class and these all are unique; sniper has a two press
autoduck so I wont have to hold duck when camping somewhere. Engineer has a
dispenser and sg build/det. demoman has a lookdown script to lay pipes directly
under him. HW has a zoom script.
Thats about it, questions? ;D P.S. cant wait for lua if thats client side at all. I dont own HL2 atm so I dont know anything about scripts and setups there. Ill have something to do with porting my script when I buy it when FF comes out :>

Industrial: LUA will be for maps, configs will be as normal. The scripting should be pretty much the same, except your zoom scripts (probably) won't work due to limited FOVs.

One of my buds has the wackiest setup for movement.

v and b for left and right, and mouse1 for forward.

Funny, I used to use Arrow keys in QTF and use inverted mouse... then one day someone playing HL was like, WASD and I was befuddled, but got used to it for TFC and eventually turned off inverted mouse.

RSFG.
You should try it if WASD is too crowded for you. RSFG lets you spread your fingers out more and point your hand a bit more inward.

My generic HL/FPS controls:
R - Forward
F - Backward
S - Strafe Left
G - Strafe Right
RShift - Crouch
RCtrl - Walk or Sprint
RAlt - Walk or Sprint
Space - Jump
T - Reload
E - Use
W - Drop Weapon
Q - Flashlight
Mouse1 - Primary Fire
Mouse2 - Secondary Fire
MWheelUp - Slot1
MWheelDown - Slot2
Mouse3 - Slot3
Mouse4 - Slot4
Mouse5 - Slot5

Don't really remember my TFC-specific controls off the top of my head.

Circ, didn't they say we could use LUA to create our own HUD or am I remembering that incorrectly? Maybe they said mappers could use LUA to change the players HUD depending on the map.

Second one. HUD customizability requires editing .res's as far as I'm aware. Except the crosshairs, which are customizable by selecting outter and inner designs.

I think I remember a dev saying something about users being able to customize their hud (Like putting health and armor over on the right or whatever) besides LUA adding hud elements.

On my Desktop it is a bit different cause i have the numpad to use, so toss flag is on my mouse there. BTW is a dual core and a ati radeon xt850 a bit much for tfc? i say no

thats the closest I have seen to mine yet.

Arrow Keys
kp_1 = last weapon
kp_0 = grenade1 / 2 depending on class config
kp_4 = use
delete = drop items, call for medic, say hp
scrolldown + shift = jump
ctrl = duck
\ = flag status
scrollup = toss
mouse3 = reload
mouse 4 & 5 = opposite grenade of kp_0 (concs with medic/scout, frag with everything else)

everytime I spawn, I hit enter, depending on what class I am it switches between my secondary gun, then my main gun. What that does is setup my kp_1 .. so now last weapon is set.

kp_2 = slot2
kp_5 = +det5

engy / demoman scrollup = det
engy / demoman right click = build / tossflag
engy delete = tele exit
engy space = tele entrance

simple configs! Makes you hella leet, true stroy... :/

I use the default WASD, but on my gamepad (http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProdu...duct_Id=157024 )... this lets me set macros (like "gg" and "lol"), and it offeres me flexibility in other games (WC and the like).

Actually since that post I’ve trialled ESDF & spacebar for jump but no! Its fault after fault with myself and computer equipment, when holding E&F (Forward and right) I’m not able to jump with the spacebar unless I let go of one of the movement keys. I have temporally tested this swapping with the other computer keyboard and I don't have get the problem with that so this one is obviously faulty or just naff. I kept moving across the keyboard testing until I came up to UHJK movement which were the only ones not having that fault.

So I have 3 options stick with all my experience on the finger stretching Arrows, the classic and comfortable WASD format or UHJK. I’ve chosen UHJK with left alt as jump I prefer it as I’m not to keen on bashing that spacebar. It does currently feel very unnatural using this layout as I have to replace all my previous familiar keys grens and so on, along with the default say keys from YU to TY which is very confusing along with the rest of my new layout.

I've been using this keyboard for a couple of years now. Works perfectly, I can't play without it.
