1- I was NOT talking about monkey, but about the whole mod...

2- I was ranting about people who whine because they want to be able to conc jump all across a map in one single jump. That capability was exagerated in TFC, compared to TF, and this is why I fucking hate TFC... The fact that you can even do that is just retarded...

Ihmhi's lessons in communicating ideas, Chapter 1:

State your intentions clearly. What you posted in a thread about monkey could very well be assumed by many to apply to the map and not the mod itself. We are not at fault for making that assumption; you are at fault for not being clear with your meaning from the get-go.

Anyway.

It is a good thing that FF is giving offense a much needed overhaul... the general pub populace tended to have a D mindset. The game now works more towards encouraging teamwork and offense than sitting in your base as a fatty and doorblocking while chucking MIRVs and firing your AC.

The game feels a bit more fast paced, but no more fast paced than your average BHOP-enabled pub.

And if you want the original TF... sorry, but those days are gone. Games evolve over time, and there are three next-gen evolutions of Fortress style play: Quake 4 Fortress (picked up by a small team after stopping development at alpha), Team Fortress 2, and Fortress Forever.

You can judge the gameplay when:

a) you get into the beta (if you apply)

or

b) the game releases, and you can see for yourself.

Hell, a) does not even really apply because the game is in a constant state of flux. Some stuff is locked in; many of the classes are in their sweet spot right now. Not everything is as balanced as many of the testerz and devz would like to see it IMO.

Anyway, my point is that maps like Monkey tend to get boring if the single sensible base entrance is locked down by 1 or 2 decent players, especially if you are playing as a FR Engy/Demo/Soldier. Sure it's fun as hell to play at the FD on Monkey, but otherwise you're just catching the occasional scraps that they missed. I like maps that are offensively biased because it translates into MORE ACTION. Who cares if the round is high scoring and you lose a lot of flags? YOUR offense has the exact same capacity to bring in even more. Also, Monkey has a fairly large midfield which is still easily covered with a HH. If you don't like people flying from one base to another, your only options are A) Make the map ridiculously large or B) Significantly reduce conc power and make outdoor maps much smaller. Option A is stupid because it slows down gameplay, and Option B doesn't make sense because you can accomplish the same thing with small mostly indoor maps that still feature insanely fast gameplay (like mulch_faf, a fucking sweet map), without tinkering with concs and thereby ruining the pace of outdoor maps.

I like big concs. Also I don't like people going on about TF and saynig TFC is shit, considering this game is (surely) predominantly TFC influenced?

TF does have its merits I found it quite easy (fquake sets it all up for you http://fquake.sourceforge.net/) and really enjoyable, more so than TFC when I played it.

In TF if you got onto a server with the right mod you could conc far far faster and further than you can in TFC and carry it into a bunny hop with insane speed. If anything at all TFC is the slowed down, prittied up crappy TF. Much like TF2 will be for TFC. That is an opinion yours will be different...

For a totally unaccurate guestimate the gameplay of FF is mostly TFC with a new paint job, some new gadgets, tweaks and some more adrenoline. Put another way TFC2 with a speed boost.

1. It takes 60 seconds to get to the flag, and
