Yeah I'll admit I kinda ignored the "war path" part and just let that name stand for the map layout rather than a "war path"
That said I still need to do work on it. So I'll keep that in mind, it's been mentioned before. But I'm quite happy with the general style of wood beams etc. Something a bit different. |

You could scoarch and burn the wood, perhaps put broken off pieces on the ground, and slightly alter the perfectly contstructed buildings to reflect damage.

The new ground texture looks good.
I'm not a big fan of the subdivided displacements for walls (not the actual terrain, that looks fine). I hope you change that. The map as a whole does seem smaller than I remember. I really don't like the look of the wood. It looks like all the buildings in the map were built yesterday. It doesn't have to be damaged, just a bit weathered. |

Pubbers FYI... Since the pictures I last posted I've been working with caes on textures and lighting. Also I've been fixing up the displacements to make them join one-to-one which makes it easier to work with.
I dont get why so many people have a problem with this wood texture. I agree it could do with a bit of variation but I just dont have the problem with it that everyone else seems to It's been said to me enough to warrant me attempting changes despite my personal taste. On that note I think I need to work on dirtying it up using overlays than changing the texture itself else it'll look like a pattern and we'll be back to square one. Though I may tweak the texture a little anyway. As for the walls Carl, once we get to the point we're happy with the map I will probably work off the subdivided displacements and put detail in the walls manually. If I were to put all that effort in now, anything I wished to change would take up too much time doing it all again. Its only CP3 that's much different in size; I'm really not sure by how much it has changed. But I'm having a go at giving us a bit more to play with. It's pretty hard getting all the displacements to match up nicely while maintaining the random sizes used in TFC's warpath. As I'm doing some larger changes atm and it's very much WIP I'm putting off my developer journal till I'm happy to post new pictures. That's all I can think of saying for now... |

Keep the wood if you like it. It just looks a little unreal to me. Any wood left outside in the desert is going to be bleached and weathered in a few months, so nice, finished woodwork like that just wouldn't be used.

IMO wood looks great. In tfc it looked like an abandoned place but in FF it looks like it's some kind of a death sport arena,love it.

it's around, stino handed us the map files ages ago. i really have no idea why it hasn't been included in any of the recent patches though :/

Elmo: I think what it is a lot of the people who want Warpath preferred that scorched earth, hot sun desert feel the original had. So an aesthetic deviation like this may not be as popular. Granted though, any warpath is better than no warpath.
pF: So Elmo's remaking a map that's already finished and has just been sitting around for years despite threads like this popping up every 6 months or so? If so, I'm with Gwarsbane, please just release the one that's already finished. It doesn't even have to be an official patch, just make a post on the news page or a forums link, anything. Speaking about badlands, are we ever gonna get a version of it that doesn't have ten ways into and out of the flag room?
I mean, damn, the version that's been floating around out there is pretty, but it's a pain in the ass to play, both on O and D. |

this is kinda off topic but this map is the most balanced cp in tf2, no doubts in my mind its so balanced that games could go on for hours. earlier today i spent 1 hour stalemate (atleast) before it was finally rtv'ed
