You finished everything other? If no, do everything other and THEN get a gas effect.

no, i need to know that the gas effect is possible, or works descent enough to work, i'm not building this map if there wont be any gas effect.

Who's working on the Lua, you?

I don't even remember you handing it off, if not. Nor do I remember you asking the beta members/dev team for help. This is the only post I've seen with regards to it.

I'm pretty sure Lua can color a player's screen greenish and then inflict damage based on location, you just have to... y'know... do it. pm squeek maybe? He's handy with Lua shit, as is Jesse.

I mean... who have you asked?

Made a small test map for LUA people to work with:

What it does:
-Button opens suit doors
-After a set delay, screen starts fading to green
-After fade, all players inside the trigger_hurt die
-Players in water won't die since you don't put the trigger_hurt there
-A flag(suit) is in the suit door
-A ball(key) is in the other corner

What it needs to do in LUA:
-Only player with ball(key) can trigger the button
-If player has flag(suit) trigger_hurt will do no damage

This might help you too GambiT if your map doesn't already do these things.

wow, im sure that will help alot, thanks very much man.

for the gas effect i was really hoping for the spy gas effect to fade in a kill you, but i'll see how that works later. thanks alot.

also, do we even have "suit"s to use?

i'll look for it this evening, could anybody explain to me how to change the model to give it a glow, and how in the hell am i going to make it appear that you have the suit on?

Thanks Jester. That'll make it much easier. I have the gas effect working as well as a countdown, and this'll just allow me to get it all ready to slap into GambiT's map. I also have to juggle lua requests from thirty other people, though.

cant you just use the spy screen overlay, instead of just a basic green thing? (i know this is what you want). cant you just call it to create one? Oh, you need to make a fallback material for below DX9, there isnt one. On DX8.1 and below, nothing will show up.

2 things:

1.) i believe that is the gas effect that Squeek is trying to work out(i know you already know that)

2.) i dont care if ppl with low end graphics cards get a gas effect or not, in all honesty, i will not hold back on what i want to do because of some ppl with a low end machine or GPU, i WILL cater to the ones with nice machines, sorry...

you're not "holding back", if you dont, you're just being lazy. creating a fallback material takes little time. I guess that's how Crysis was developed. If Valve thought like that, they would probably be out of buissness. Over 30 percent use DX8.

I dont have it for lua, but I figured the logics I am using for the TF2 version could help in some way. It sounds like they have things under control though. I have 32 outputs on the func_capturezone for the TF2 map lol.

There is a combine mask that you can use for the "suit" Its barneys mask that he uses in the single player game, but it would look better if someone made you a model.

or just use the HEV suit in the game, just like TFC.

i think i mispoke, i wont hold back on doing anything because some ppl wont see or use what im doing, what we're discussing is something that i can change WITHOUT taking away from the effect that ppl with high end comps see, if you can understand that.

to early for me. but i agree, and will work on a fallback, though it may not be perfect.
