I just wonder how many HL2 mods are in v1 release (non-beta)
... How many? Oh none, that's right |

You dare compare a released beta to a non-released vaporware? Come on... Many creators are even lazy, keeping the beta status for many months, even a full year, before they release a non-beta, even when the beta is ALREADY mostly bugfree...
Being overly meticulous about bugs (another word is paranoid), won't get anything released... Imagine Microsoft... lol |

So I take it you've made a mod for Half-Life 2 before.
What did you do on the team? Obviously not PR. We could use some people that're handy with the SDK and don't randomly disappear, maybe you could help out. Certainly having a team that sticks around and can put in a set amount of work at a steady pace would get FF out a lot faster. Unfortunately we don't have that now, so it's hard to actually get it done. You know how it is, I'm sure, with your successful mod-making career handy. You remember how frustrating it is that, dammit, the game just keeps crashing on you. Lingering bugs that can really fuck up the game just sit there, going "Fix me, bitch." It's... it's a pain in the ass, and I'm not even coding it. I'm sure your first release came in at record time and was completely free of crippling bugs and exploits. We could really use your help, man, I'm telling you now. Seasoned vets like yourself would give us a huge advantage against time here. I dunno how many more whining cunts I can take, y'know? We need to get this game out now before some other snivelling prick steps up from outta nowhere like "OH MAN YOU GUYS STILL HAVEN'T RELEASED? WHAT'S YOUR PROBLEM ARE YOU ALL RETARDED" while we go "Dammit man we're doing all we fucking can, do you have any idea?" 'Course I'm preaching to the choir here!

the original cs and tfc i think were in beta stage for a hell of a long time back in hl1 even... dod was in beta for a long time as well, i remember being able to use the default fov command to zoom in with rifles and pistols and pick off ppl for EVVVER... then they did the release that jacked up omaha and i never plaied it again

Yeah, but here's the deal. They were (relatively) new concepts at the time. They had to get an audience in quick before devoting more time to it.
By now, though... TF is a franchise. People have expectations. If we released it as it is now, 90% of you would get frustrated and just... leave. I'm serious. Griefers could have a server down in five minutes without even trying, at this point. We can't just release a shit version of it, go "Here's a beta tell us what you think" and then update from there, not with the expectations you all have. See how much people bitch about TF2? Could you imagine the shit we'd get for FF? All the Spy threads... holy hell.

acutuall im happy there debuging it , i know of several other hl2 mods that did the whole crappy jacked up beta release full of bugs then decided a patch a week would bring back the players they lost the intitial relase, not to name any names (empries mod) but some release patches with more bugs in it then fixed.. now theres about a grand total of 30~ players in there intire player base, 20 of which are in another area of the world that is a 8 hr timezone difference

And the relation is...???
I don't need to have done a mod to observe behaviors on gaming mods after having played and observe many of them since Quake 1... Exactly as you don't have to be an annoyance to mod programmers to notice how much I am one myself eh... |

My exceedingly sarcastic point is there's a veritable assload of work going into this mod, but without a dedicated team that can work consistently it's hard to get a lot of progress done. We've been at the cusp for a long damn time now, but bugs keep cropping up that keep release at bay. Until school and shit is finished it's hard to say when we'll be done. If you can't be patient we'd prefer it if you just went away until we were done, okay? Come back in a month and a half or something. Watch HL2 news sites.

For every month it took to make a mod in Quake 1, multiply that by 9 and you have approx. the amount of time it takes to release a mod for HL2...
Seriously, do the people over at Black Mesa have to put up with this much shit, or are TF players just a bunch of whiny bitches? |

It's a giggle seeing how the beta testers talk as if they're working towards the development of FF, as though it's a important contribution.

We sure as hell speed the process along.
I guess there isn't a WHOLE BUNCH of purpose in organizing five or six guys to try out all the new shit that's being worked on, gauge how balanced it is, see what bugs we can find as a result... working consistently to crash the server and break the game in ways the developers might not have considered, and then, once we've done it, going back and figuring out exactly what caused it, isolating it so the coders/mappers/whatever can find where they need to do the work and get it fixed right away. I guess that's not so important though. I'm awful sarcastic today.

I <3 Circ.
lol, keep putting them in their place circ There are some bugs in the game that occur reagurly that are not fun at all. They would make everyone frustrated at how the game plays, and would never want to play it again, and FatHorse, STFU! |

About the beta testis, it's the way you say "we" as though you're just finishing a map or something.
Anyway, keep up the good work chaps. See I can be sarcastic too. |
