Most people are about as excited about FF as people were about the port of counterstrike to the source engine... and more people still play the old counterstrike...

Once again - I realize tfc/ff has a lot of depth.. do not try to belittle my comments saying that I am too stupid to master these games. I played in multiple top clans and I throughly enjoyed playing TFC. I am not saying the game is not fun... it just isn't new. You will not get a huge player base over time because TFC has been out for too long. It would be like releasing the old school super mario bros and only updating its graphics slightly... no one would buy that.
pretty spot on

I did like Mario All-Stars as well

Anyways, what's the point of you all saying that FF is not going to make it? So you can come back in a year and tell us "I told you so?" It's impossible to speculate on where this mod is going to go. Most of us here, hope that it will gain a huge following and succeed. I for one hope that people are playing this game 5 years from now, and I also hope that it is then re-created on Unreal Engine 5 with some more updated graphics and gameplay. I think that is what the "Forever" in FF means.. To carry on the legacy of Fortess games in the same STYLE that it was first created. I imagine playing 2fort in 2025 with photo-realistic graphics, bunny-hopping, and spamming grenades.

I am also enjoying TF2 the more that I play it, and since getting in on some good teamplay matches, I believe that it does have the right to hold the name Team Fortress 2. I think they should continue and make TF3, and so on. But like I said before, I think the majority of us here, and the reason we followed this mod from the start, is because we WANTED TFC with updated graphics. Thats all I expected anyways, and it was nice when I found out that it wasn't only the graphics that were updated, but the movement, weapons, special effects, sounds, and other things.

Back to the Mario analogy... Does anyone remember how well Super Mario 2 did? They completey changed the graphics and gameplay from SM1, and when they realized their mistake, they quickly made SM3, which pretty much went back to the roots of SM1, but with updated graphics and some new moves. But the gameplay FELT the same as SM1, thats why SM3 was so huge... I still played and loved SM2, but I never conidered it a 'real' SM game.
God I feel old...

Uh...depends on what time you look depends where everthing is.

You can see the big graph at the top is showing the standard dip that happens each day, so of course we'll drop down, along with everything else. All the big Valve games are about 2-8k players less then usual in that chart too.

Edit: And seeing as you're in New Zealand, unless you look during the middle of your nighttime, it won't be peak time for the rest of the world.

Thanks for the lecture in maths?

FF's numbers were in the high 700's when I randomly looked last night btw. Nice base that will hopefully grow steadily over the coming years.

A second 2fort came out last night in a community map pack. The official FF Dev's 2fort is still in the works. Updates were in the works before release. I know the Dev's will update FF more than Valve has supported their games.

Except for CS. CS jumps from 80k to 260k right around now.

Yup.

@Mike.

There's no reason to be intimidated by the numbers, yet. Plus, you might end up like a certain someone who made predictions a little too early. http://www.fortress-forever.com/foru...ad.php?t=11323

Give FF some time to grow.

Well benj if you've played TFC extensively you will realise that there is far more to learn in TFC/FF compared with TF2 so what on earth were your comments about?

First I want to comment on the comparison between the 3 mario games. Mario 3 is not a great example because there were many additions added to mario 3 to make it more interesting. My entire argument is that FF does not give us enough changes from TFC - it feels like TFC: source... but only made shittier.

Sabre.. honestly dude... play TF2 with some good players, get your ass kicked, and come back to me. Saying TF2 takes no skill, takes 10 minutes to master, and all that bullshit just makes you look like an idiot. The game has a lot more depth than you give it credit for. OMFGZOR I CANT SPAM GRENADES, THEREFORE THE GAME TAKE NO SKILLZOR LOLZ.
