My stupid map idea:
CTF, in reverse kinda way... 2 bases with spawn points, opposite ends (common) 1 third base, enclosed with 4 choke points 2 walkways above a chasm spawn point and secondary leapfrogged (meaning maze-like, several blind corners) cap point below in chasm other 2 openings ('choke points') on center base are wider than those with walkways for concing in and out. Each team's flag is in the center 'base', and the real difficult part would be to grab the flag and cap it AT YOUR ENEMY'S BASE. Right by their spawn point. Center base opens after a preset (user preference) start time. but you can DM with other team until flagroom opens. Design Concepts: 3 "sniper nests", 1 on each spawing base and one on top (accessed via ladder) of the flag base. Middle base looks like a dome, with the spire on top (sniper tower) like the tower on the Death Star, (Return of the Jedi, the Emperor's tower/chamber). The spire must be small enough for a rocket's blast radius to reach the entire chamber, to balance the middle tower out. When you look from either base, directly at middle base, the walk way is offset to your right and the 'conc opening' is offset to your left, so to go in either way will leave you open to potshotting or for an SG to lock on to you. Bottom chamber: high walls to block off, but one should be able to conc over them, or run through the maze in the center, again with lots of blind corners/windows. There could be more access points between the bases on the bottom level, but that is entirely academic. Maybe an extra "blastable" point? Other Design points: Falling from the middle base in to the 'chasm' shouldn't rape too much of your health. Just enough to let you know that it hurt. There can be specialized SG placement platforms throughout, but guarding the cap point should be it's biggest use. Middle sniper tower should be high enough to either kill the sniper/other or bring it down to 1 health after the fall. Ladder to the tower should be enclosed. Maybe one or two 'crumbled' open spots. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ WELL! That's it for my map idea. I posted it in my thread because I really don't want to start another one.... criticize it all you want. I can't build that map. If someone wants to, fine. I don't care. If you want to credit me, great. If not, don't. Up to the person with the skills. I don't have the HDD space to install Hammer and all the other things needed to create a map. Plus I don't know how, nor do I have the time to read through tutorials. I barely managed Trepid_Jesse's Room/lightswitch practice routine. Bleh... |

what about, a map where YOUR TEAM SPAWNS IN THE ENEMYS BASE, and the ENEMY SPAWN IN YOUR BASE. and your FLAG SPAWNS IN THE ENEMIES BASE, and the enemies FLAG SPAWNS IN YOUR BASE.

None of this may look like flaming, but the motivation behind your posts, Fresh and ekiM, are mean-spirited and in the intention of inciting a fight. Get out of my thread. |

CHILDREN, BEHAVE!!!!!!!!!!
How a thread as insignificant and meaningless as this one can begin to devolve into borderline flaming/teasing is beyond me. Understand, once you start a thread, there is no "ownership" other than those who own this site. At the same time, it's a fact of internet life that threads get derailed, regardless of the level of seriousness. As to this particular situation, a thread with the title of "utter randomness" is begging to get derailed. Just be aware though, that doesn't give license to forum "regulars" to say anything they want. Whether there is something personal going on here or not, all of you need to step away from the keyboard when you feel personally affronted, and don't post crap that borders on making mean-spirited "I'm so superior to you" fun of another at their personal expense. Quit being so frikken' negative! Jeez, this is a thread for posting odds an ends, not a sniper fest... Carry on... nothing more to see here. |
