I think you need to be clearer on what you actually want us to help you with.
As you said yourself he has affected culture and that was what you asked for in your first post. If you're looking for people who affected culture in a more creative direction then what about Django Reinhardt? He surely played a role in making gypsy jazz more popular :P If you want to get artsyfartsy im sure you could cough up some shit about Bauhaus or Les Fauves or as you said yourself impressionism / expressionism and all the more common "isms".

Here is one definition of "culture".
Quote:
For example, when you read about a "culture of corruption" within a particular political party they are talking about a pervasive attitude of pattern of behaviors or actions that the people in that group have in common. Also, you may want to shed your attitude. You posted asking for help and there's a few of us who have been, earnestly, trying to help.

I'd define culture as the practices of a particular social group and as the meanings they use to make sense of their environment. Culture isn't just the arts, man...
edit: I know wikipedia isn't exactly celebrated for its academic integrity, but [i]please[i] take a look at the first paragraph of their definition of culture: "Culture... generally refers to patterns of human activity and the symbolic structures that give such activity significance. Different definitions of "culture" reflect different theoretical bases for understanding, or criteria for evaluating, human activity. Most general, the term culture denotes whole product of an individual, group or society of intelligent beings. It includes technology, art, science, as well as moral systems and the characteristic behaviors and habits of the selected intelligent entities." If you're just focussing on the arts, thats absolutely fine, but you kind of need to be more clear when you're asking for help... Last edited by Uncle-Argon; 04-11-2007 at 04:07 PM. |

I would choose the effects of the "Yellow Brotherhood".........
on todays culture but it has not been around before 2000 so I would choose a topic that is much more influential and interesting in the area. Thats right ladys and Gentlemen please choose the "New Kids on the Block". Let your pen do the writing as you immerse yourself into the underground phenoms of the Boy Bands and how they made it to have millions of girls ages alike screaming for them. Dwelve deep into the subconsious of Joey and how he came up with "Hangin Tough" and the way cool dance moves that had come with it.
If Leanardo Da Vinci was still alive the ceiling of the St. Peters catherdal would be erased and the New Kids on the Block would be painted instead representing a new love for the free world and the music that it brings. dh

The dude needs to take 5 and look up the cultural theory of history and cultural historiography before continuing to wear his ass as a hat. You can take damn near anything in history and show how it affects Culture. Robert Darnton's book, "The Great Cat Massacre" is a good example of this. Oh, and as far as Hitler and culture go... He did have the Autobahn built. To say that the Autobahn isn't a part of german culture is rather dumb.

hitler did have an impact on culture............
too bad it inlcuded the KILLING OF JEWS and WORLD WAR II to name a few. Hitler was to culture as toliet paper is to asses. No matter how hard you wipe you still get paper stuck in your hair.
Now I think about it that was the worst analogy I have had in the last 10 mintues. I will try to be more consise and direct to the point next time I speak of the worlds worst tyrant and overall bad guy. I am guessing he is giving Lucifer BJ's as we speak. icky poo me do dh
