I managed to bag myself 2x 24" CRT monitors from work for £10, bargain!
Considered getting an array of 4 but I think my desk will snap |

hmm
well a larger monitor = can display more pixels assuming same dot pitch, = can run higher resolution i can run 1600x1200 at 85Hz on both monitors crystal clear i can run 1920x1440 at 85Hz on this 22" monitor BORDERLINE, youd never notice it in game, but on test patterns you can tell your just hitting its limit... and i COULD be wrong, but ive always felt higher resolutions allowed you to see more.. i run TFC at 1920x1440 at 85Hz, 6X aa and 16X AF btw which is why, if im ever in a server with you, i sometimes wont reply to text cause its so damned tiny if im in a server with alot of people i know, and talk to i usually run 1280x960 because then its a good balance between graphics and ease of reading chat and before anyone comments, 1280x960 = 4:3 resolution 1280x1024 ISNT tho im not sure about LCD, 1280x1024 has no business on a crt monitor *burp* |

Higher resolutions let you see more on the desktop, but not in games.

Your correct, I didn't think it had more feild of view just that I could see more things on the larger screen in that same feild of view. Or better put I see the same things but a bit easier. |

Grenadier: the HUD gets smaller, but aside from what the HUD used to block you don't see any extra.

Actually, technically, you do see more on a high res screen. If anything is smaller than a pixel (and therefore doesn't get drawn) you can't actually see it. It's mostly usefull if you're sniping, but you can't shoot something that's smaller than a pixel because you're resolution is too low.

since this topic has gone way beyond what it ever should have
lets talk about the whole hitbox vs resolution problem in HL1 being i never quite understood ti but was told, something about, when you raise your resolution, the hitboxes stay the same but everyting else gets smaller, so its harder to shoot people??? |

Right now a 17" Samsung 710T, as soon as I finish building my truck up a bit more and save the money for a whopping system upgrade I'm planning on joining GroovyF in the 20" Dell widescreen category. (I need new ram, videocard, processor, and sound card first which will hit me for just over a $1000 canadian so it could be a while)

I'll believe the hit box bullshit when I see it.
I'm running a 19 inch LCD ViewSonic. It's nice. Save's me space at my desk too. And why do people always have to be so critical? Everyone always has to say "Well CRT IS FASTER OMG!" Get over it. I ping like shit anyways. I highly doubt the 1% raise in my delay will effect my score. |

It's a great monitor. It's 17" but the stand folds up so it's small enough to fit in my backpack (for lan-ing). It looks great and hasn't gotten a dead pixel in the 4 years I've had it (Knocks on wood). It doesn't have the best view range though. It looks fine from the sides but you have to be pretty well centered vertically to get the best effect. |
