What people say, and what is grammatically correct, are often two completely different things. Come down to the south and listen to some of the people here talk. Case in point: "Y'all."

You think y'all is limited to the South?

Also, "An' 'e decided to go for a walk" is gramatically correct. So is y'all, for that matter. It's not perfect, but that's why you call it colloquialism.

Oh no, I know it's not limited to the South, it's just the only example I could think of right then. It still annoys the hell out of me. I don't see why people just couldn't have said "you all" the whole time.

Because shortcuts make dialogue faster.

It's the same reason you use it's (twice), don't, couldn't...

You wanna talk shortcuts? Howdy = How do you do.

I can't stand the word "sup", or any variant of it.

As soon as the kid appeared on the screen the video was turned off.

Baby stuff is only funny if it's your own or someone's close to you. Otherwise it's boring as hell.

This thread on the other hand was probably far more amusing to read than that video would have ever been to watch.

I don't say "Howdy" either. I only really contract things like 'do not,' and 'could not,' and I still talk faster than a lot of people around here. So I could argue that they don't really make dialogue faster. But that can be argued endlessly, so I won't argue it. I could just be an oddball though, and I probably am.

I wasn't implying that you said howdy, I was merely using a common word that happens to be a major shortcut.

Right, right, that one makes a little more sense to me. Language is just a weird thing.
