Basically: just being able to bhop isn't enough to avoid being sniped. Own3r, your suggestions are severely limiting. I, and certainly a lot of other game players, hate that in a game (this is why I hate most fps game apart from Quake and Half Life (a few other games belong in that list, but...)). |

This idea serves to get some very rough balance into pub play it could be entirely optional and probably achievable with LUA scripting. Provided the ratios are found to work roughly it doesn't matter if some defence go on offence. Its not restrictive of player freedom particularly just trying to get the proportions of certain class groups. Most defencive classes don't go on offence and even when they do they would be lucky to get past the snipers or soldier defence inside the base so it doesnt make much odds.
In terms of confusing new players: how about FF_mapname map description... CTF A/D etc... Attack [description] Defend [description] thats quite explicit on both a CTF and A/D map. |

The only thing that dulls the game for me is Hw's lobbing large quantities of grenades and grenades in general. Apart from that the game is relatively balanced. FF is better in that department anyway.

People (like me) would really hate being told what to do when they join a pub. I myself change tactics constantly, sometimes 2 or 3 times before I even die. Besides, would the engi building SGs in the enemy base be O or D? The idea isn't very practical. TFC pubs playing CTF maps aren't really about capturing the flag. Everyone is running around having fun. That's simply the nature of the game. If you don't like that you should go play in a clan.
If you DO want some teamplay in a pub, though, all you need to do is make a friend. 2 coordinated players can wreak havoc on pretty much any pub otherwise full of individuals. And paft, I know it may seem difficult now, but once you've been playing TFC for a while you'll get used to grenades. Experienced players know how to deal with their enemies grenades (usually by trying to controll the distance between themselves and their enemy) and know how to properly prime and aim grenades. It'll come to you eventually.

Ha-HA STFU! ; ) I have been playing for several years and it's the only game I play. There isn't an art in mastering nukes anyway, just lob and KABOOM! Wipe out.
It is difficult if you only have half a brain because you haven't the sense to walk out of the way when a gren is predicted to be headed your way. I'll have watch what I discuss in future if that's the impression I gave you. Last edited by Paft; 03-27-2007 at 09:42 PM. |

I often like to build my sentry within the cluster areas where other sentries tend to be (as they protect each other if placed correctly), ask another engy to watch it for me (repairs) and then go with an O squad and help take out pretty much anything on the enemy D (including enemy sentries and HWs).
EMP = best grenade ever, and it can help out an O group insanely well. |

Yes, but it's the amount that carrier has that isn't. That was what I was saying. I have no issues with any other aspect of the game, tis all good.

I think they should introduce a menu option so that whenever I left mouseclick a menu pops up saying "Do you really want to fire your weapon at this person? They might be an attacker and so are you!". Responses would be Yes/No/Maybe/Depends/?/Wibble. If you don't select an option within 357ms, you're kanned from the server and Steam automatically uninstalls.

I am a master of grenades. I have perfect aim and timing. I listen for the sound of my opponent priming their grenade and know exactly where to be and when to minimise the damage they do to me and maximise the damage I do to them. It's not that hard but it is a skill. TFC is a game of fighting, it's not like chess. If a pawn knows what he's doing he can increase his odds of beating a queen.

It is kinda like chess... "Oh shit if I move there/stay here your grenade is going to be able to get me - best move out of range asap."
