doh, really that argument is fail and if anyone read it (before they posted it.) they'd would have realized it. its only applys if the person is being a hypocrit.

one of the examples include.

Bill and Jill are married. Both Bill and Jill have put in a full day at the office. Their dog, Rover, has knocked over all the plants in one room and has strewn the dirt all over the carpet. When they return, Bill tells Jill that it is her job to clean up after the dog. When she protests, he says that he has put in a full day at the office and is too tired to clean up after the dog.

the only way bridget would apply to this argument if he was a hacker to. and to my knowledge hes not. if you wanna argue hes a hacker than be my guest. he has to be a hypocrite in order to apply to this so his statement is still valid.

Yes, this reasoning is flawed, that's why it's called a LOGICAL FALLACY. I honestly don't know where you're drawing the conclusion that Bridget would have to be hacking. I'm just basing this on what was said. Take a look at the first example from the page, it's easier:

1. Barbara accepts that all murderers should be punished for their crimes.
2. Although she murdered Bill, Barbara claims she is an exception because she really would not like going to prison.
3. Therefore, the standard of punishing murderers should not be applied to her.

Now apply this to the conversation:

1. Player 1 thinks people should not hack in games.
2. Player 1 ends up hacking in the game anyway because he is so good at the game he is bored.
3. Player 1 does not think this should be held against him personally because he is a skilled player.

So unless player 1 believes EVERYONE should hack in TFC/FF, his reasoning is flawed.

First this was a thread on a few simple questions, now derailed into some hacks vs. skills argument around a few people. Fuckin drama, that's why I hardly read or post on these forums. I would check this site every few months hoping for a patch that fixes this ex-love of a game. The last straw for me though was the community, or lack of it. Bunch of pricks that think they're big shit in a videogame, like you're compensating for not being in the in crowd at school. Whatever, if that's how you want to be, have at it, but when it's that, or like 1 or 2 good other servers, the game is just not as fun. As awesome as this game can be, it's the people that make it fun, it being strictly multiplayer. You got a choice of an elitist server or a friendly server, and unfortunately, those two choices pretty much make up the total amount of servers in the game.

As for the gameplay aspect, all reasons for me not playing anymore are basically the same as Chilled Sanity and have been for a long ass time. What is the point of asking anymore? Devs do not seem to listen, or instead give cryptic messages like "We're working on it..." Ok working on it how exactly? You don't want to share possible updates? Again, your choice, (although I can't imagine why) but to a player like myself, it looks like you are really disorganized or flat out don't give a shit. And this is not meant to insult or start flames, I'm saying what it looks like every time I check the home page and see that same update that stripped more fun away from FF. I just think maybe someone would care enough to post a "We're still working on this" on the front page, at least, but w/e.

And you can make a sarcastic remark to try to make your online persona seem cool to random people, or get defensive and try to attack me. Do what you want, but it won't make this game any better. It will change nothing. Look at all the old posts before this, same stupid shit drama. The topic, then a comment, then a sarcastic comment usually failing at being funny, then an attack, then a long thought out rebuttal so as to appear intelligent and win the argument (which will never work no matter how right you may or may not be) then a few memes, a lulz, and a lockdown. That's what the majority of this community seems to have become. It's a very small madhouse. Keyword: small. Used to be much more than this...

i have't been around a long time, but people tell me the community used to be way bigger. especially when the game came out. there were several full servers at the same time, imagine that today!

is it possible to tell when significant decreases in players were noticed? e.g. after the first patch, ff 2.0 or when TF2 came out?

Well FF was able to get pushed out shortly before TF2, there hasn't been anything close to the numbers that had, but that's to be expected. There were easily several hundred people online at the same time when that first came out, then the TF2 beta was released and most of them went away.

I think 2.0 actually saw an increase in the playerbase, probably because jump pads and pyro jumping were pretty novel. In general it's gone downhill on a curve from there, with new spikes when subsequent patches have been released.

Switched classes to fast, auto banned for "hacking script" or some bullshit

Well, I just got the game after remembering reading news about it years ago and now finally having the source engine. I am also getting my friends to play it.

It was a server, I forgot the map, but it was a CTF one with a big room with stairs and a long hallway in front of it. I was soldier, fired rockets at the room to keep scouts away. Turns out a couple teammates were there and died.

The thing no one really ever says about OT, is that if you DO break the rules, but agree to abide by them after having your blunder pointed out, you'll usually get a second chance(except for cheating and outright racism, obviously). From what I've personally experienced on their servers, they seem to be pretty fair.
