Assuming you keep the same firing mechanic for the sniper rifle (no hipshots, need to shoulder and charge first) the idle animation should definitely be holding the rifle closer to the body, sideways - as in, not actually pointing the barrel forward. When the charging starts, then pull the rifle out and shoulder it. That'd get the arm out of the way and keep it from taking up so much of the screen. Then you can just *snap* the gun up into place when zooming/charging.

well hipshots could still be implemented, just give a few hundred milliseconds grace time before the sniper holds the gun up and the dot comes on. currently, hipshots are awkward due to the deceleration from the high movement speeds

I'll be honest. I'm partial to neither one. I think a mix would be nice. I see what the devs are saying about the old one being blocky and such, but the new one really seems like overkill.
If you're leaning to make it more realistic like, then I think it's impractical to jump around at 100 miles an hour holding that behemoth. Make the whole rifle a bit more compact and it'd be perfect. Make it more the size of the default USMC sniper on BF2 (m95?), 'cause right now it's a friekin Barrett. |

I like the more realistic style of the new one, but the compactness of the old one did seem to make a certain ammount of sense. I'm sad to see you guys went with a high reflectivity cubemap reflection, but I guess it looks okay with the very colorful lense making it hard to see. |

had to log back on for like the first time in a year or something like that to comment on this...
new sniper well erm.... its a bit too long, and blunt... needs a longer barrel with shorter bulk crap. looks alot like cs auto sniper as stated befor, actually leave the legenth just cut back on bulky crap. it needs more barrel. old one yes looks a bit thin but look at the old tfc sniper. it was rather thin and a bit rhombus-triangleular shaped. personally, i dont like either. but if i had to look at one for the rest of forever id probably go with the tfc one in the video. id say scrap both, and if your lookin to cs as inspration for sniper go with the scout, but a bigger scope and cooler barrel. (i always thought scout looked a bit cartoonie/unreal/out-of-this-world). |

What I don't like with the new one and find much better on the first one is the shoulder peace and the handle/trigger. The front of the new gun is good...
The handle of the new gun really give me the creeps actually |

I'm not sure what you're trying to indicate.
Based on what decs said, the autorifle model will be completely separate. So the clip isn't necessary for the sniper rifle. Other than that I dunno what you're after.

...what the..?
First, some of you folks should learn how to present your feedback and how to give propper feedback to something. Alot of it i just see as pointless moaning and therefor ignore. I dont even see the point of this thread, there is no chance im going to scrap the current rifle to go and remodel it based off sevs old model (dont have his around) for many reasons, but mainly time and the fact that most people seem to prefer the new one and personally i was never a fan of the old one. I also love how some of you keep moaning about how ive drawn inspiration from cs or what the hell, haha, for one i dont even have it installed, any inspiration i got i got from looking at rifles and concept art made by various people. I was just keen on doing a sniper rifle that would be fun to create and fit in our art direction.

if it's any consolation (for me it is) it looks 30million times better than the TFC sniper rifle..that's all i gotta say really
i'd slit my wrists if it was like a remodeled tfc sniper rifle (that's a figure of speech for the autists out there) |
