If you are a gamer, and if you have any friends, you should at least know some people with high speed connections, right? I think I'll burn the demo for a friend or two of mine who aren't as privileged with a cable modem. |

Find a good Torrent and it doesn't take that long. I found a good set of mirrors here as well:
Battlefield 2 Demo Mirrors I tried the 4th mirror down and got over 150KB/Sec. |

Ugh. What's with this lame account creation thing. I hate Gamespy. All I want to do is play online.

Sure, why not? Besides BF2, FF is the only other game I am planning on playing for a while as a substitute for my other 2 favorite hobbies...

I won't be. The Battlefield series is all right, but no matter how good your specs are, it's guaranteed to lag, and take eons when joining a server. My computer is fairly good (P4, 1 GB DDR, etc.) yet it took me a good 8 minutes to get onto a BF:V server.

yeah finding time to play or time that I "feel" like playing is hard to do. But I just bought this game the day after it was released, and I do have to say its awesome, def. something to keep me occupied while waiting for Age Of Empires III and Fortress-Forever to be released. Sucks that I have a GeForce 6800 GT 256 and I still can't set BF2 on very high graphics lol. Maybe in a few years there will be a card thats good enough and cheap enough to turn the graphics on full.
Good luck to anyone who doesn't have a pretty recent card... |

haha, I love the way the game looks, and I don't mind that it taxes the hell out of my card, but what I CANT STAND is the shitty ass in-game server browser. It blows. I'm waiting for gamespy's version to come out, and HOPEFULLY it will be easier to use. Hell, they don't even have a favorites list so you can find your favorite servers, and blah. I don't even need to say anything else about it, it just pisses me off :P

Ican't stop playing it! The one thing I wish is that they would allow you to use the 64 player maps in single player. The fact that there aren't bots makes it so I can't make a 64 player LAN either. Oh well, still woops ass!

I guess I'd feel more sorry for the people that have 512 or less MB of ram, or a slow hard drive, since even with my 10,000 RPM SATA drive, level loading is not speedy. Quote:

sorry to bring up an old thread, but i got it today after being solidly addicted to the demo - the demo servers were virtually lag free, but the retail servers are UNPLAYABLE :(
does anyone else get this? |

I've noticed a lot of variability on this. BF2 hits the server hard, and I think a lot of the server hosts just aren't giving it enough power/bandwidth. Also, most of the other maps are more complicated than the map included in the demo. Plus the game's got a tons of bugs, which were actually made worse after the patch + hotfix.
So, basically, if you can find a good server, and you have some luck, you can get a near lag-free gameplay experience. Otherwise, enjoy the slide show :P |
