Well, I have always been "new player friendly". I even carried the "FF_Helper" in my name for a long time. Each, and every single one of us was a "noob" once. I try to be like the people I learned from... I saw them do something I've never seen before(EMP jumping, conc jumping...building shit in places it looks like can't be done....etc....) and asked them how they did it. More often than not, they would show me how....and then I'd know. There is absolutely NO reason to be mean to people who ask for help. It makes better gamers out of all of us.
Personally, if someone was a real asshole to me on a server, I'd put them on a list of people to annoy the fuck out of. But that's me.

This seems pointless now...the only harassment I see in FF is goin on in this thread...wtf.

As far as NFO's server is concerned, I've never seen people insulting noobs there. I've even helped a few after they asked questions.

What's weird, is when I was playing there tonight, many players joined and said "I'm new, don't yell at me." So, maybe it has been happening when I'm not there....which is quite a bit these days.

I would think that any insulting going on is probably being done by...NOOBS. You know...a new player comes in to FF...learns the ropes...then thinks he can call people noobs after playing a week...I can see this.

Not a bad idea actualy. We could even run volenteer stuff for people who wanted to train other players to log on at certain times and train.

yup, when i was new to TFC, ihmhi helped me. he created a Listen Server, and showed me how to play. pretty fuckin awesome if you ask me. we need more people like ihmhi around

me personally wouldn't be calling new players noobs and shit. but if i was ever new to any mp game and some random internet persons calls me some names i ain't gonna start crying about dumb shit like that...

I am posting this because many (I mean MANY) people have been harassed when they first played this game, leading into the decline of players. I thought the FF community wanted to grow? So in this thread, I posted an obvious answer - start being nicer to the newcomers. Then the newbies would be like, "hey! This FF community is actually pretty nice! I'll invite my friends!". THEN the FF community grows. And grows. And grows. And then maybe Valve will start noticing and start advertising it more :P

i hope you are right because i wouldn't want to be playing w/ and/or against someone that might slit there wrist over some name they got called in an online game.

Also i'm going to encourage people to put a bind in their config pointing to the newb server and explanation of why to play there, so people don't have to write shit during a game when a newb shows up.
