Its not TF without the nades. The only reason Valve are taking them out of TF2 is so they can make the game playable on consoles. Stupid move. What the dev team are doing by reducing damage and radius on frags slightly is perfect. Also with LUA control over how many nades you spawn with etc. being down to the map dev it should be nicely balanced.
Theres no way you could take any nades out, it wouldn't be the same. |

If grenades were removed sg's would need be changed and rebalanced, i'm interested to see how TF2 tackles this.

You have Demos who can completely demolish SG's, you have Soldiers who can too, Scouts who can now be 2x better at running past them (double jumping), you have Pyros with the firelauncher.
4 out of the 9 classes who can efficiently take out SG's, instead of all 9. The game will influence more of a rock-sissor-paper gamestyle instead of who has more grenades on them at the moment of engagement. Like it or not, any game that incorporates class+team play needs to incorporate the rock-sissor-paper system to make it fun, and this is the direction that the game is going towards. It will still have the elements of any good TF game, which are Fast Paced, team coordinated action, but this time.. It will *Force* players to use more team-based strategies because you will not have that one or 2 players who can grenade their team into victory, which is the case in so many PUB games today. I am not saying that there won't be any drawbacks. I personaly think that certain classes should keep their class defining grenade, and every class *should* have 1 regular grenade, but the decision to remove them are not as bad as people make it out to be. Honestly now, how many veteran players who play classes like Medics actually *rely* on their weapons more then the frags and concs in PUB games? I don't think too many do until ofcourse you run out of them. Alot of poeple also say that they are removing the grenades and thats it, thats done. No, they are not just removing grenades, they are giving pretty much every class something to fill that gap with, things that define the role ofthat class more then ever. Whether its completely new items, features or secondary weapons. I personaly think they made a good decision, it might not be perfectat first but I think it is something that might be more enjoyable then TFC after getting used to it. Same goes for TFF, alot of the design steps they took are for the better. |

there are some classes that use the secondary to "conc" their way up onto a deck or ledge, such as a spy, engy and pyro. Take away that secondary and those classes suffer the skill level that was pro in TFC.
