Here is another great band. Of which they are extremely experimental, and once you hear them, you will see why. What genre are they? Uh, I think they are every genre...very funny as well.

And then some jackass like me comes along and totally digs it, but hates that crap you keep pimping.
Okay, you don't pimp it, you mention it in passing. Either way. Super cool how music works like that. "This is the best fucking music ever!" "Holy shit that's trash, how can you stand it?" I'm totally on the latter with any of the death/black/whatever metal out there where the singer does that growling thing. Whatever the fancy name for it is. All I hear is a dog or something. Drives me up the wall. It's a shame, too, 'cuz I usually really like the music, but I hear the lyrics and just can't keep listening. I'd prefer a singer - even a really bad one - or no vocalist at all.

I also noticed there is an Eternal Tears of Sorrow fan in this thread. If you like them, you might like Kalmah. It has a few of the same members but has a sort of "Children of Bodom- Hatebreeder" influence.
Kalmah - Hades.mp3 (sample) You will hear the major resemblence between ETOS and Kalmah's guitars in the first 5 seconds. |

Circ, the only difference is that i dont mind that you hated the stuff i posted (stuff i posted because its the highest quality local bands i could find). I just asked a question abou the band and if you hear dragonhearts song rebellion you would most likley understand why i used the term horrible. When people refuse to accept the fact that what might be gold in their ears is total crap in others ears and try to push their music on you i just get a bit fed up and irritated. Its all opinions, just like ive emphasised quite alot during my last posts.
Tis all. Oh and circ, in response to what you said about growling.. what do you think about Opeths Mikael Åkerfeldt? He mixes up pretty well with normal singing and i think his "growling" is quite alot fuller and cooler than your average barking dm vocalist :]

Also, do we have any Blind Guardian fans in the house? If so, check out persuader. Their vocalist sounds extremely similar, but their music is a bit more of a thrash. Check out this clip!

And yeah i thought i might get a bit more back on topic haha so yeah..
Since people seem to enjoy power metal why not pimp the closest things to power metal that i listen to.. You guys might enjoy Ayreon, check out of the Into the electric castle album, The Human Equation and The dream sequencer if you like rock/metal "operas". Some of the guest stars are James LaBrie, Michael Romeo, Russel Allan, Åkerfeldt, Devin Townsend and so on, think you guys might find something you enjoy there. And Derek Sherinnian - Mythology has some interesting songs, especially the shit with the fusion guru Allan Holdsworth. Heyho.

This thread needs more Post-Rock..
If you don't already know the genre then I suggest you try and discover it yourself. Think of a mix between ambient music and instrumental rock, add in some melancoly and a dose of epic and you have an idea, but that's barely doing post rock justice. Godspeed You : Black Emperor ! - Lift Your skinny fists like antennas to the sky Explosions In The Sky - Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place Mogwai - Happy Songs For Happy People Would be a good start to know what it's about. Ok now for metal.. Rhapsody were awesome.. until "Dawn of Victory" where they just copy-pasted "Symphony of Enchanted Lands" and pretended it was a new album. It all went downhill from there. Their later work has its interesting moments, but that's about it. For anyone that likes Power/Speed Metal, you should definitely listen to "Angra - Angels Cry". Even if you are familiar with the band you may not know about this album since it was composed by the "old Angra", before their "reunion" (where only their old guitarist came back) in "Rebirth". This album is nothing short of exceptional, it's awesome Power Metal without all the downsides (cheesiness, etc..). For darker metal, I can't stress enough to anyone that knows what Doom Metal is to listen to Neurosis. Their first two albums were Hardcore, nice enough but can't compare to their other albums. "A Sun That Never Sets" and "Times of Grace", as well as "Souls at Zero" are pure genius. Definitely give them a listen. Is anyone familiar with jazz here ? I'm absolutely in love with a certain kind of jazz but I have no idea what bands to look for or even if it has a name. Basically it's where the bands members exchange solos for hours, preferably in an upspeed tempo. Yeah, it's jazz but I don't know what to listen to :S. |

Ahh yes, The Black Mages. Great music from Nobuo Uematsu, the creator of all the music for the Final Fantasy games. Listen to "Those Who Fight Further" on their main page!
Nobuo Uematsu Edit: If you like the music by Nobuo, check out music by Daisuke Ishiwatari And Koh-Ichi Seiyama. They are responsible for the "Guilty Gear" sound track. Guilty Gear - Holy Orders (Be Quick Or Be Dead)(sample).mp3 |

I'd post more than just samples, but I don't want to end up breaking any possible rules on this forum. I don't even know if its a rule, too lazy to read!

Mmmm... Black Mages....
Don't have any of their songs specifically, but I do have a good number of Nobuo's works from the Final Fantasy games. Entire FF9 soundtrack, One Winged Angel (FF7 - Sephiroth's Theme), Victory Fanfare (FF7), Liberi Fatali (FF8 - Opening Theme), and like 4 songs from Advent Children. |

The Black Mages has two albums out, of which are both great. I recommend obtaining a copy of both albums!
Oh and btw, out of curiosity, I clicked on the NT link in your signature just to see what it was for. I see its for NeoTokyo. While reading on what it was, I realized the theme song on that site is awesome! If you have it or know where to get it, let me know. I read a little in the forum and its Edward Harrison (Logic) but I have no idea where to get it.... |

I finally listened to what you sent me and it was great. I very much like it! Its super relaxing and I can imagine how its great ambient sound would add so much depth to any game.
This will be my sleeping music for many nights. |
