I enjoyed your journal entry decs. It's cool to see all the models you made and how you progressed to your final one. In the shot with the five rifles, I like the third one the best. I think if you took the scope off the fifth model, and used it on the third, it would look superb.
The final one looks excellent. The skin and detail on the gun is fucking ace. My one gripe would be that the barrel looks a little too small. Maybe if you increased the 'gauge' or diameter of the barrel, it would look like the sex. edit: also, is that the arm we will see on all models? If so, beef it up a little more |

I prefer the new one.
Even if its unrealistic the scope feels too big (length) and the lens bulges outwards (convexly) too much me thinks. |

Excellent journal entry, Decs. Hearing things like that - in such detail - really get people excited about FF again and really show dedication not only to creating FF, but to the community as well. Thank you!
As for the rifle, I dig the ingame shot - its a perfect balance of being beffy/fortressy-themed and staying true to the sniper rifle archetype of light and long but powerful. Very well done. I agree with some comments about the arm - either pull the whole sniper rifle 'back' a bit so so much arm doesn't show, or move the hand or something - it looks awkward right now. But we are missing seeing it animated, so maybe when you're actually running around with it, it looks okay. /shrug wish i was in the beta :P |

Anyone else notice that what the player sees in front of them can be seen through the scope in that picture? Very nice effect guys.
Two things you could do to improve it: 1. Make the barrel side of the lens a ruby lens... lots of military weapons sport those nowadays. 2. Put a flip-up scope cover on the front... again, military weapons have flip-up scope covers. |

I like the old one better, don't know it feels more TF to me the old one, while the new one looks in game like a CS sniper gun... I have the feeling the new sniper gun doesn't fit in the row if you put all the guns next to each other, neither would the old one do actually but it would better fit.
By any chance an in game shot of the old one? |

I don't think it was ever fully skinned. We had the TFC sniper rifle as a place holder.

The old model had more of a team fortress charm to it, but having never seen it in-game I can't make any further judgments.
The new model looks very good, but it does look like something I'd expect to find in a counterstrike lineup of weapons. Of course that means it looks pretty realistic, which can be a good thing. Scope looks a little too big in-game, and the arm/hand pose is awkward but those are minor issues and can be fixed quickly I'm guessing. |

New one, end of discussion (except the team colored scope lens, shouldn't include any tbh...)

I love the new sniper, love love love it a lot, it looks really good
but I have one major (personal) gripe about it, and its so pointless its hardly worth considering as i'm probably the only one..anyways I think it should be held a little closer to the body (or maybe not make it as long?) and in the ingame screen shots I saw it looked like he was pointing it a bit upward instead of holding it straight out like this: http://img128.imageshack.us/img128/9...ust0000ii6.jpg guns in CoD2 seem to point up a bit and held from a weird (prob more realistic too) position and it bugs the hell out of me for some reason other than that its A+++ just thought I'd throw in some constructive bitching |

Thats just one thing ive never liked about cs and its weapons.. look at how small the scope looks vs the hand.. i mean it looks like it is equal in length to his palm and thumb.

Haha, you're right, I never noticed that.
I think the visual effect is that its supposed to be with your head near the stock. In DoD, the arms are stretched out awefully long as well on the K98, which is a huge ass gun in the first place. I don't think its possible to get it perfect though. |

I do like the new one a lot, but I think something to do with the angle he's holding it at and perhaps the size and position of the scope makes the whole weapon look a lot broader than it does in the unskinned picture. I wonder if it might be worth trying to get a little bit of daylight between the scope and the barrel (like in that cs picture) just so you can see where the gun starts and ends. This is only a minor criticism, I think you've done some excellent work and I'd be more than happy to use it as it is
