Perhaps "gazelling" is the new codeword for bunnyhopping. Obviously it will be shortened to "zelling" by the general community within a few days.

Journals are for whatever we like. Read 'em or don't, but complaining about what we see as relevent to FF is rather pointless. I'm not quite sure where you've aquired this sense of entitlement, skudz, but all it does is annoy me and make me want to waste time abusing my authority over your forum account.

The development team are devoting hundreds of hours of their own time to provide us with a free mod. Obviously, they owe us.

Thanks for the dev updates...Although trepid's news seem more negative then positive LOL. Atleast their jobs, mapping, is the least vital to the FF release.

Skudz, i dont see why you have to have that attitude, it doesnt really do anything for you other than to make you seem like a bit of a knob. It seems like evry post i see you make is slightly offensive.

Good grief, skudz. Unless you thrive on spewing negativity, I'm not sure why you browse these boards and choose to comment. If you're not pleased with our progress or how we go about things, perhaps you ought to consider taking a voluntary vacation from the boards and then checking back in a month or two (to this comment you'd probably respond "what's the point in checking back in a couple of months? All I'll see is a stinkin' dev journal update that talks about who won the world series"). I find it disheartening that you seem to get a kick out of being bitter toward a group of people spending loads and loads of time to make something for people like you ... for FREE in the hopes that you'll have loads of fun.
And onto something substantial... Like FB mentioned, the dev journals are our tool to tell you guys some things that we want to tell you (and on a dev team member individual basis). If a paragraph looks like something you won't want to read, skip over it; no one's forcing you to read it Granted, you're all probably more interested in hearing about FF development; however, what's the harm in getting to know the team a bit better? As far as me censoring dev journals, I don't really censor much at all. I'll usually fix typos that I catch, but some work going on by the dev team members involves features of FF are going to be surprises (i.e., something different than what's in TFC, something new, etc.). Sometimes a dev journal entry might reveal slightly too much about such a surprise, and so I'll filter it a bit. And for those interested: an update will be coming soon, likely this week. It was originally slated for this weekend but we encountered some holdups. Sorry for the delay.

I liked the new dev (journal :P) updates, nice one lads. Much preferable over, "I haven't been able to map/model/texture/w.e much for a while for reasons I cannot say."
Stop bitchin' guys. Edit. Mmmm update soon. *drool* |

Skuds went a bit far in my opinion. And im glad it wasnt me, I chose my words carefully so that I wasnt showing bitterness towards the devs. Nor am I attacking on a personal level. On another note, it seems that one of the terms to be used here whenever there *is* bitching invloved, we are reminded about this is a "FREE MOD". Judging by what media we have seen and info that you guys *have* shared with us, I would be more than willing to pay 10 buxx (at the least) for this mod. Shit, you put up a ebay "Donate" button somewhere and you can bet a sweet Texas virgin you will see my donation. If people will pay that same amount for DoD, I would rather give my ten bucks for *this* mod. I would start another thread to get the numbers, but I beleive others would be willing as well, maybe then BF2 wont be much of a distraction as it has and currently is. |

Real life influences the work we're doing (like ... hurricanes and shit), so obviously some of us are going to write about real life from time to time. I personally write about various things, and if I feel it is pertinent to FF's development (DoD:S, BF2, HDR, whatever.. they all have influences) then I will mention it. It's hard to make games without playing games; it's hard to make games without speaking about other games. I mention whatever's on my mind. I owe nothing to people like Skudz :P

I can see where frustration would occur with the dev journals, but having been on the other side of the journal (in a completely different media, of course), i am just glad to know that they are all still working on it at all. keep working on it, dev team. i have faith that you wont fuck the brilliance of the project to please the masses. |

what some people seem to sometimes forget is that a mod is all about having fun, and that should be valid for both ends of the spectrum : the community and the developers. if a dev feels like posting pics of gazelles and statements about how much BF2 takes all of his free time, then by all means please let him do so.
i can't see how a "hi guys, i'm a worthless drunkard and feel like fucking around with you guys tonight" journal update is a problem, especially because there could be no updates posted at all. that's a purely personal viewpoint, but i think these kind of updates are generally entertaining to read, even when there isn't much FF related stuff brought to topic. they get a sense of "communitism" across, the devs are honest about what is going on and joke about it. that's a lot more informative and friendly than, as far as i know, any other mod site/forum around, at least in the hl2 modding community. to skuDZ and other people that may react the same way : i don't want to jump in the flamewagon but you are taking all this too seriously. while it may certainly be frustrating when there isn't much media to look at, getting that upset about it tells me that you need to gulp down a couple of sedatives. i almost forgot : 1) are we getting a proper forum with more subforums and an original graphic template anyday soon ? 2) please remove that "(i believe, mr bond)" filter :/ 3) more updates plzthx when is that beer fund donation account coming anyway ? |

Why hasn't more concept art been released? I'm pretty sure you have a lot of it, so why hasn't more been shown?
I really think you guys need to get more on the ball about weekly updates to the mod. Sure, you are doing a lot of coding, but you have enough guys working on art/models/maps/etc and the like to get the ball rolling a little bit. You have more than enough guys to be pumping out media like a beast (#mappers & media peeps >> # of coders). Looking at the Dev Team page, I don't see exactly why a bottleneck of 1 update a month is happening, even if not everyone can work on the mod during any given week. I mean, even the the posts on the forums/dev journals state stuff like "hope we can show this soon," "just waiting on approval to release it," etc... And what ever happened to that big update being talked about over the sumemr? I forget what it was, there was a lot of hype about it and it died down. I'm tired of these "paper releases," how about we get some tangible shots of work. As I've stated before, this mod is not getting/will get the attention it deserves by having long, stagnant periods of no actual media updates. Halflife2.net and other sites don't post updates on their main page whenever you guys just give out a dev journal posting... |

I think my first post got taken out of context by some people..... I assumed that the journals_ was a place for updates regarding the mod status, and the actual forum was for the other related material.
