TF2 originally wasn't supposed to be a mod...
If we're talking games, didn't Messiah take like, 7 years? Duke Nukem Forever is gettin her goin pretty good... I agree that NS took a rediculous amount of time to complete...I remember waiting for the original DoD to come out for a fairly long time. That one was on alot of peoples watch lists...The Opera took a hell of a long time too... |

See, what I think most people neglect to think about when regarding a slow release schedule, is that people will still be playing HL2 and it's respective mods for at *least* another 3-4 years, if not longer. The engine coding and compatibility is so strong, theres no reason for anyone to consider that HL2-based games will ever have to die, until the Source engine becomes obsolete on the release of a drastically new one. On that note, kudos to Valve for constantly updating it to take advantage of newer hardware.

I wish somehow someday mod teams would have someone run "PR", and do news updates a few times a week, just basically keep everyone involved in even day to day progress. Hmm ya that'd be neat. Dev journals != that.
Then again it's much more fun to have to have non existant news! yippy! |

Half life was a FULL game. FF is only a MOD for half life, runs off same engine right? Significantly less work....
Anyways, I sorta think/hope they release FF soon, as in the next two weeks as stated by a moderator/admin, October 10th, god I hope that's not for CLOSED beta's, that would really suck. Anyways, i think it's kinda pointless they are making all these maps, wasting time and stalling the release... as SOON as it comes out, there will be dozens if not more people helping with further map development, after all, all the TFC maps were not made by sierra, only like 8-12 were made by them, the other 1,000+ maps were made by second hand PLAYERS using something like that world edit program, can't remember what it's called, my neighbor and I used to make tfc maps for a couple of weeks when we thought it was cool, hehe ![]() |

![]() ![]() And, incedentially, I don't think it's the maps that are holding up release. From what I'm hearing it's bug fixing and tweaking the model animations that are taking the most time. |

As for the comment that the maps are holding up the release, thats just ignorant. Its not like every member of the team stopped working on the mod and started in on their own maps. Finally, I don't know where you new guys get your release dates from, if FF was going to be released in the next two weeks, there would be indications everywhere and not from some vague and probably misquoted post. BTW, the beta will be closed, you'll get to play it when the rest of us do - when its done. Yeah, Updates bitches! |

I really wish TF2 was still coming this quarter. It gave me hope i'd see FF before 2007. Doesn't look like it anymore though.
ps: Update Bitches! |
