No prob on the sub they have both, I believe they charge for vent, and team speak now. Game Servers has developed their own voice client but I haven't used it yet. Check out all the info before you commit. If ff is released in the next few months (the money you save on the monthly price would pay in the long run) I would lock the special price in now. Your taking a gamble though if not released in two or three months. Valve might fix something in their next update that just totally fucks the dev team up.They run specials about two times a year.

Heh you should port the FF maps to CS:S and see what happens...

Does anyone have an idea how much bandwidth an 18 slot server (public or private) uses in a month? We're thinking of putting our own server in a datacenter and you have to pay for the bandwidth. (like 50/100/200 gig a month)
The netcode is just the same as all other HL² games so bandwidth-usage should be roughly the same for FF, right? |

that link zip posted is pretty informative, and i think covers that
http://www.serverwiki.org/index.php/...te#Definitions on a different note, i saw from the stats page on steampowered that DoD has the most needy server to player ratio. that requires an HL1 server, but i assume its perfectly possible to swap over to HL2 at any time? I hate to say it but for low cost game server GS has been decent.
You have to have extra patience with their support staff at times and go through the different levels of techs to get anything other then minor things done. We actually know them by name and ask for them specifically when it's a high level technical issue. All in all when it comes down to it though all factors considered they are the best CHEAP server provider around. If you want a centralized game server in the USA then Central, Texas or San Jose , CA is your best bet. It all really depends on what areas of you players you want to cover. If you want a server out of the country I can't speak with experience for GS's servers or any other provider for that matter. If you read this post and want to sign try Gameservers out for a USA based server click the link below when you order your server so they know who referred you to them. http://www.gameservers.com We used them and ran CTF for a while. They will let you run any mod that is based under HL2DM but they won't specifically support it. We will be running our clan's FF server as soon as it comes out and I will most likely add another server for my other gaming community through them also. If you would rather pay a little more and not have any hassles with tech support and never any resource issues then I recommend using Evolans. If you sign up with them tell Matt Lestock hello from 417.

How much band with you use depends on how active the server is. Also different mods send out different amounts data. EX. CS:S sends out more data than HL2 DM. How much more I'm not sure but I would start with 100 gigs and if you go over then up it to the next step.

i was just thinking that my self...if your from the uk get a uk server lol better ping for a start
better ping = better conc jumps better conc jumps = faster flag caps and i agree with mervaka id rather run my own server from my basement but alas money is an issue although couldnt you just run it from a comp with huge storage, processor and ram i think u could build a small server machine at an affordable price you got me thinking about it now mervaka... |

Ping means more consistent concjumps, but if you know what to watch you'll nail them everytime anyway.
I can nail concs in double speed (host_timescale 2) without sound now.
