Thank god, I don't have to be the sole person on the entire forum to bring this up anymore. In the past I've been amazed by claims of how overpowered the sg is when it was less powerful than TFC's ever was. From reading some forum posts, you'd think that no one ever played TFC because the sentry was so overpowered it was impossible.

The 2.41 sg WAS a diversion weapon, you're right about that. The problem was if you had a scout rocketing in towards a cap that would end the game, all you had pretty much were pipe traps as a last line of defense and some gamemodes simply needed more than a diversion. 2.42 has really helped in that regard. There's a middle ground between "diversion weapon" and "overpowered piece of shit", it's called "effective."

The 2.41 sg was shit for AvD or I/D, it simply didn't stop people from capping and led to very fast games, leaving the balance on those game modes fucked for years. That's not perfect. Perfect for pickups maybe (though I've read dissent on that), but not the game as a whole

the SG now is fine. as long as you know how to conc at max speed it doesn't matter because it won't even lock on. thats part of getting better at the game.

i like it alot better now havn't run into it to much but it can kill me before i get off 5 shots at it.

also the game isn't all about pickup.

I consider myself one of the better (not best) engys that still play and the old sentry sucked balls. Loved the TFC sentry.
Actually, I can still do that. I'll show you the next time you're around..

between 2.41 and 2.42, I like both sentries. It's really just barely noticeable anyway, at least from an offensive perspective. I remember in 2.41 that at the right angle, the rocket from the sg would plug me in mid-air. I have yet to see a difference between them.
