We could engineer stegosaurus to become flavorful eating animals the way we turned aurochs into their loser descendants the cows.

They did that back then you know.
ARMADON FTW

tbh i always liked talon the most, even though he had the gayest finishing move ever

holy shit, that post just resulted in an hour and a half long search and downloading spree in an attempt to get the unfinished version of Primal Rage 2 to work in MAME...

You people are crazy!

Did any of you watch Jurassic Park?

Why can't scientists use science fiction as the warning it's intended to be.

i dont think this is real. why would just discovery channel have it, and not be on CNN or something important. sounds like a show to get more viewers

News outlets have more important things to talk about like how many people were gunned down in urban areas or which celebrity has talked shit about another. The fact that news outlets haven't talked about it means nothing.

It wouldn't take that long as all the dinosaur genes are still there, all they would have to do is get the right combination of genes to be expressed and they could have on in a single generation or so.

You see modification of other species genetics in the more simple plant kingdom so I think it's definitely possible to create some form of animal hybrid. I still think the potential for something bad with this sort of thing crops up under the law of unintended consequences though.

I'd mostly be worried about those assholes with tough-guy dogs upgrading to pet dinosaurs. That way when the dinosaur rips your throat out they can tell your family it just wanted to smell you.

I didn't watch to show, but I'm curious how they knew they were "dinosaur genes."

I think it was partly because they caused the embryos to display phenotypes identical to those of dinosaurs.

Bad things have the potential to happen when you give citizens guns, let people use computers with internet access, let students use toxic chemicals in science class....etc but we still manage to go about life without huge problems from stuff like that. I suspect that the same factors that keep the previously mentioned things from going wrong will keep this type of science in check.

More like with hybridization of a species allowing creation of a new supervirus as it interacts with the bybrids body. Far-fetched? Perhaps. But think of how many times new discoveries have been "rushed into" and we find out much later how bad it was. Look at overuse of antibiotics...look at when radium was used to illuminate the dials of watches...look at the use of Thalidomide. Disparate examples of things that were entered into with bad results.

Is something like what happened in the work of Fiction "I Am Legend" possible? A world killer virus?

To quote one great scientist on this:

"We scientests SUCK at getting information out to the public." You'd be surprised at how many transitional fossils we've found that support evolution.
