time: over 4-5 minutes. on lots of maps. aardvark doesnt take as long, surpriingly.

Okay, I haven't gotten a chance to boot this up yet (my videocard has passed its lifespan and I'm getting a new one, hopefully tomorrow)

but I will say this: Defrag your harddrive for the love of god, some of you have unrealistic load times, something is obviously wrong.
If that doesn't work, check that your harddrive cable isn't some prehistoric ATA66. And/or your drive isn't making more noise than a chainsaw.

You can not compare a listenserver load time and have an idea that its an FF problem.
You have to many variables that you need too take into account. CPU, Memory, HDD speed, fragmented HDD, OS, Processes that are running normally.

On my dedicated server 1U setup for hosting games it takes 20 seconds for the server to load on first bootup. On a restart 10 - 14 seconds. Joining takes me 10 to 30 seconds depending on the internet traffic etc..

It comes down to the computer preformance, Internet connection. If one has a bottle neck, it will change how you connect to a server or make a listen server.

I thought this thread was all about going new game -> FF Well on the first run of FF since you booted up. Connecting to a server is like wayyyy shorter.

I've recently done a uber cleaning job on my PC so I'll see if there's any change in loading times shortly (once I've finished gaying it up in vegas).

Old specs:
Centrino Laptop with Pentium-M 1.83Ghz
Geforce 6800Go
1 gig DDR1
craptastic 5400 rpm harddisk
Windows XP SP2
Load time: anything between 30 sec and a minute, sometimes the other team allready has a cap

New specs:
E6550, stock speed (2.33Ghz)
Radeon 1950GT
4 gig DDR2 PC6400
WD 7200 rpm harddisk
Windows Vista Ultimate (Aero disabled)
Load time: 10 to 15 secs, often getting serious momentum over other players on publics getting a free cap most of the time. Pre-match settings would help I guess
