I think the trick here is that he doesn't care what it's supposed to be called. It sounds like techno to his "unrefined" ears, so it's techno.

It's like metal subgenres, the only people who can actually tell them apart 9 times out of 10 are the people that are total fags for whatever subgenre is being compared against. To everyone else, it's probably just hard rock, maybe metal if they know a thing or two.

God shut up, I corrected myself 3 minutes after didn't I. "Ambient"? Trance..

And I was into Trance (which is cheesy :]) back in my teens, so again shut up.

Edit: nevermind scrap what I said, thought you were talking about me.

I call it techno because i dont care about subgenres, and dont give a flying fuck about it being right, music is music, and for me to care about its pertaining exact genre means less focusing on the music itself.
Ok, its trance, my bad.
But seriously, its MUSIC.
Its all connected imo, like a language, lets say, english in this particualr example.
Different people use different slangs or variants of words that theyve heard, some know exactly what they mean while others have no fucking clue.
But all in all, its english, and everyone knows what theyre saying, idealy at least.
This music is me expressing myself, how i feel when i write, and just letting out my absolute passion for music.
Trance, Techno, House, Progression, rock, metal, classical, dance: its all the same to me.
Music

Hmm, the stuff you'd now find on those REHASH trance anthem compilation albums.

From Chicane to Faithless.

Used to listen to Radio1 shows (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/dance/), well, I still do but I listen more to house/elecro..and whatever similar. There are so many "genres" of dance as you know. I don't solely listen to one genre of dance or one genre of music of course because that would be boring wouldn't it.

Anthem is a synonym for shit/cheese.

However, to each their own. Everyone likes different kinds of music.

add inspiriation to that

Anyone can do this, having all those is a plus though

But hey fox, go to the page on newgrounds where my first review is, the one by 'Pickle-Juice'. It Reads:
-8/10

I'm really not a fan of techno music, but this caught my attention. The layering of the effects was nice and the mood was impeccable. The intricateness of the pads, synths, and such was pretty much great.
Good job!
Anybody can listen to any kind of music, lately, ive been able to tolerate rap, more or less because theyve become more musically involved and now its a song instead of an annoyance.
But yea, you can drag anyone into any genre by meeting their tastes. My gear towards writing a trance that gets my feelings across caught his attention, and he doesnt like techno/trance.

One can view that like someone getting into wines. Most people start with a fruity pinot gris or some champagne before jumping onto 30 year old extra dry chardonnay. Deep progressive or hard trance or goa psy are generally harder to get into than some Ian van Dahl or Alice Deejay. Shit, I got hooked by a DJ Doboy cheese-fest.

It's good to see someone getting into EDM though from your song. Such music is generally the gateway for people. Before listening to In Flames, I hardly liked any heavy metal music. Now, I can listen to and enjoy the elements of grindcore.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EtO5xQC98jM But really, if you don't laugh at that, you need to listen to more death metal.

get familiar with making one whole 16 bar beat and splitting each drum and instrument into its own pattern so you have more control over it (dropping parts in and out, modulating). download as many sample sets as you can. the more variety you have, the better (FL presets can be spotted a mile away). never underestimate the power of VST effects. etc.
